Glad the Sugar Bears won last night. It really wasn't a close game at all.

A couple of their players got away with technical fouls that were blatant right in front of the officials and of course the officials went to the replay monitor and said no foul.

Really?

One sent Taylor to the bench clenching her shoulder. I thought Steve O was going to throw down.... The other happened right in front of me and the official was standing right there looking at it happen! Amazing no penalty was called. But I guess if he didn't see it looking right at it and the cameras didn't catch it.... #-o

Next game AT the Farris Center at 5 p.m.

BE THERE UCA FANS~!

WBI, Semi Finals, 3/24/18
(NCAA D1 RPI in parens)

Nevada (170) @ UCA (123), 56-65
South Alabama (179) @ Yale (126), 74-76, OT

Wonder why NCAA show these games on Friday, 3/23 rather than Sat?

Yale (126) @ UCA (123)

http://www.yalebulldogs.com/sports/w-baskbl/2017-18/releases/20180326y1tsc1

Yale is 18-13 on the season and 8-6 in Ivy League play. They are 10-5 on the road. They avg 68 ppg and shoot 40%/28%/67% for FGs/3s/FTs with 38 rebs per game and 13 assists. They avg 22 3s per game, 15 TOs and 10 steals. Bulldogs also give up 65 ppg and opponents shot 41%/34%. They do not seem to foul out much and shot 100 more FTs than their opponents.

Top scorers are Jen Berkowitz (6'2, SR forward, 54% FGs and 7 rebs pg), Tamara Simpson (5'10 SR guard) and Roxy Barahman (5'8 SO guard) all who avg between 12-14 ppg. They have several who avg 5-8 ppg so some good scoring depth. They have four other players 6+ including a 6'6 center.

In true to form Ivy League style they have no freshmen.......only 'First Years".

Should be a good test for both teams.............they played Kansas, TCU and Indiana well so not a team to take lightly.........

Great game by two very good teams....just a bad outcome for SugarBears........Yale's 10-5 road record and play against B10 and B12 teams were good indicators of a tough game.......and it turned out that way.........still, runner-up in a national D1 tourney not bad..........congrats to Bulldogs and safe trip back to New Haven.......over 3500 in attendance per SteveO......had our chances...........tied at 50 but could not get a shot to fall......

Yale 11-13-17-13=54 (19-13)..........most wins ever
UCA 18-9-12-11=50 (25-10)..........another 25 win season

Yale/UCA

FGs: 42% vs 36%
3s: 33% v 30%
FTs: 80% v 53%........SBs only 9/17.......that was the game
Rebs: 34 each
TOs: 16 v 12

True to form Yale was led by Berkowitz, Simpson and Barahman each scoring 10-12 and 6-8 rebs apiece............TayB did what she could with 21/6 game and Kierra another solid 10/7/2 game.........Angel finished only 3/2 to close out SB career but a big 3 late...........we will miss our seniors...wish them all the luck and glad to have them as fellow Bear alums.......

Another outstanding season with 25-10 record and a solid RPI with runner-up in WBI...........a few years back we played in WBI and lost in Round 1 to UAB.......who eventually cruised to win the rest........always thought we were 2nd best in that year also...........thanks to all the SBs for their hard work and excellence as student athletes our university and state....

Thanks to our coaches who help these young ladies develop....Coach R is developing a powerhouse program....hope to see many more years of success and becoming a national mid-major player.........

<SteveO said Megan the Magnificient (my words) was in the house tonight........not sure whether Courtney the Competitor was as well>

PS.......Yale's school motto is "Lux et Veritas" or "Light and Truth".......well we Arkies know a little Latin also.......... I think of the SBs as "nil desperandum" or "never give up" or more properly "let us despair of nothing"........Go SugarBears!!!)
