UCA@ACU

Must have been some words said at half...........scored 49 in H2..........note AVU led by 1 with 4:43 to go then SBs outscored Wildcats 16-3 .....awesome to hold a good conference team at their place to only 3 down the home stretch......

UCA 15-9-25-24=73 (12-4/19-8)
ACU 11-18-17-15=61 9-7/15-11)

UCA/ACU

FGs: 53% v 43%
3s: 56% vs 26% (much better shot selection today)
FTs: 72% v 83% (+8 in shots made)
Rebs: 28 v 28
TOs: 15 v 18

Bench scored 30 today.........Baudoin caught fire in H2.......ended up 24-9/1 on 75% FGs......Bozic stepped up with 16 on 4/7 3s.........Jordan added a solid 12/5/4 day.......

UCA@SHS

Nice road win and wraps up 3rd seed in tourney.

No livestats from SHS but SBs lead 51-33 after Q3.

UCA 7-22-22- 21= 73 (13-4/20-8)
SHS 12-9-12- 20= 53 (1-16/4-22)

Very wasteful last minute or so......TOs, layups, fouls..........

Coach: Happy with the win........not pretty basketball........ missed some rotations and they drove on us too much....gave up way too many points in paint........8 TOs in Q1.......we have got to get started sooner...............rushing shots in Q1.....when Maddie and Angel settled down we got going...........still trying to figure the team out......we played too fast in Q1and needed to slow it down........Kamry had 20 points coming back to SHS.........bench needs to be a more aggressive......still have a lot to accomplish....need the game on Sat to be ready for tourney....lots of time on 8 hour road trip to think about upcoming games......

Go SugarBears!!!

NWS@UCA

NWS 8-7-11-13=39 (1-17/7-22)
UCA 16-13-16-14=59 (14-4/21-8)

Impressive defense.........really made NWS work for every shot...... seniors Angel Williams (2/1/2 with a steal) played strong D and Kierra Jordan (9/5/2 with 3 steals) was an active force in the paint and showed her agility numerous times going after loose balls and battling for rebounds..........Taylor Sells (6/3/2 with 2 steals) was very strong on defense and scrapping for loose balls..........Taylor Baudoin (17/5/1 with a block) was solid all game and showed how versatile she can be on both ends.......Mekaylan Hicks (7/3) played good minutes and showed progress.........only 3/7 FTs which needs to improve.........

NWS/UCA

FGs: 36% v 40%
3s: 43% v 17%
FTs: 100% vs 71%
Rebs: 27 v 30
TOs: 24 v 13 (direct result of an aggressive defense)

Now let's go to Katy and defend............Go SugarBears!!!!

http://ucasports.com/news/2018/3/5/womens-basketball-four-sugar-bears-receive-all-southland-honors.aspx

Congrats to TayB, Kierra, Kamry and Taylor......very well deserved honors..........

FOUR SUGAR BEARS RECEIVE ALL-SOUTHLAND HONORS

FRISCO, Texas — Central Arkansas had four players recognized on the All-Southland Conference women's basketball teams, the league announced on Monday.

Seniors Taylor Baudoin and Kierra Jordan were named to the All-Southland 2nd Team, while junior Kamry Orr was selected to the 3rd team. Sophomore Taylor Sells was one of five players voted to the league's All-Defensive team.

The teams are determined by vote of the head coaches and sports information directors at the league's 13 institutions, with representatives from the schools not allowed to cast votes for their own players/coaches.

Baudoin lands on the second team after finishing the regular season 4th in conference play in scoring at 16.8 points per game; 9th in rebounding at 7.1 per game; 3rd in field goal percentage at 51.3; and 2nd in field goals made with 122, just five behind league leader Randi Brown of New Orleans, on 108 fewer attempts.

For the season, Baudoin averaged 15.9 points and 6.8 rebounds on 51.9 percent shooting, hitting 31.9 percent from 3-point range and making 73.3 percent of her free throws. She scored in double figures in 25 of the Sugar Bears' 29 regular-season games, including 15 of 18 Southland games, never scoring less than 8 and scoring at least 20 on 8 occasions. She had three double-doubles, including a 30-point, 12-rebound masterpiece in a win at McNeese; and finished the season averaging 22.3 points per game over the final six games.

Jordan, who was a 3rd-team selection last season, earns a spot on the 2nd team this year after averaging 12.1 points and 9.1 rebounds in Southland play – one of just four players in the league to average at least 12 and 9. She also finished 4th in the league in offensive rebounds per game at 3.3 and 5th in field goal percentage – making 49.7 percent.

For the season Jordan averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds, posting 9 double-doubles with 8 coming in conference play. She scored in double figures 17 times and had 10 double-digit rebound games.

Orr was a third-team selection after finishing in the Southland Top 15 in scoring (12.9 per game), assists (2.9), free throw percentage (79.7), steals (1.7) and 3-point percentage (35.8). She reached double figures scoring on 17 occasions, topping the 20-point mark 5 times.

Sells was the Sugar Bears' lone representative on the league's All-Defensive team, finishing 2nd among Sugar Bears with 35 steals and frequently drawing the task of guarding the opposing team's top guard. Over the course of the season, the Sugar Bears – who are 2nd nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 50.1 points per game – consistently held their foes to well below their season average, including keeping each league foe beneath their scoring average for the year – holding them to 239 below their average over the 18 games, an average of 13.3 per game.

The Sugar Bears have had multiple all-conference honorees in 6 of the last 7 seasons, and bring their total to 18 honorees in their 12 seasons in the league. Sells is the 6th Sugar Bear named to the league's All-Defensive Team.

The Sugar Bears will go for a 3-peat at the Southland Conference Tournament this week, entering as the 3 seed, needing to win three games in three days to claim the the championship – beginning their Postseason Run Presented By First Security Bank on Friday at 1:30 in the quarterfinals. They await the winner of No. 6 New Orleans vs. No. 7 Abilene Christian in Thursday's opening round.

Player of the Year: Cassidy Barrios, Nicholls
Defensive Player of the Year: Chastadie Barrs, Lamar
Freshman of the Year: Jadyn Pimentel, Lamar
Newcomer of the Year: Imani Johnson, Stephen F. Austin
Coach of the Year: Robin Harmony, Lamar

Not the way I wanted our trip to Katy to end, but still a great season! Hopefully, it's not over yet and we can get into one of the other tournaments! [-o<

One thing is for sure, I think we will be even stronger next season! I know we will miss our seniors, but the underclassmen that are coming up are really really good!
