Lamar@UCA

LU 3-6=9-18-11=29 (5-7)
UCA 12-13=25-15=40-13=53 (6-6)

LU/UCA
FGs: 18% v 33%
3s: 18% v 17%
FTs: 55% v 83%
Rebs: 18 v 52....SBs had 16 O-rebs to LU's total rebs of 18
TOs: 9 v 18..still way too many TOs...

SBs set school record for least points allowed in SLC games.....very balanced scoring......everyone scored at least 5 as Langi led with a terrific 12/17 double double....Ayanna Trigg also had DD at 11/12...Sells nearly DDed with a 9/10....good to get to 6-6.....

H1: The Triggs lead with 6 each and SBs +14 rebs…..also 6/6 FTs.....SBs 9/30 FGs but Lamar only 3/29.....

Very impressive performance! Obviously something clicked last night. Hopefully it will be a catalyst to end the season strong!

UCA@UNO

UCA 16-17=33-19=52-21=73 (7-7)
UNO 20-19=39-20=59-26=85 (9-5)

UCA/UNO

FGs: 52% v 60% .both team made 29
3s: 40% v 58%...…….UNO +5 made
FTs: 81% v 80% ...UNO +7 made.....
Rebs: 23 v 26
TOs: 15 v 15

SBs only led once by 6-4 early in in Q1 but hung around all game and even got to within 3 early Q4......Brianna Trigg led with 19 (7ppg avg) on 57% FGs......Langhi a solid 16/5 and Ayanna Trigg at 14/4.....tough road loss...the fight is on for a tourney spot..Go SBs!!

UCA@SHS

UCA 21-17=38-14=52-6=58 (7-8)
SHS 22-14=36-12-48-25=73 (12-3)

UCA/SHS

FGs: 42% v 41%....SBs +1 made
3s: 25% v 69%....SHS +8 made
FTs: 88% v 73% … SBs 7/8 but SHA had 16 made.....got to get to line more
Rebs: 46 v 30..wow..big advantage with +6 o-rebs and still lose
TOs: 20 v 10...still Kats had only +5 pts off

Terri Crawford led with 17/11/2Bs......Langhi a nice 11/8/2B....Sells scored 12...cannot recall when SBs had such a collapse in Q4...…..only 2/13 shooting...SHS very good team....

SBs now get two homes game next week vs SFA (SLC leader at 12-2) and Nicholls (4-10)…..have a 2 game lead for 8th place.....last three games @ACU (10-4) and home vs SLU and NWS....both winnable.... need to get a couple wins at least….Go SugarBears!!

SFA@UCA

SFA 13-18-9-18=58 (13-2)
UCA 6-6-10-15=37 (7-9)

SFA/UCA

FGs: 48% v 25%
3s: 40% v 31%
FTs: 67% v 27%
Rebs: 32 v 30....SBs +10 o-rebs
TOs: 17 v 17

Defense good enough to win vs a very good SFA team...…….shooting was just poor...partly due to SFA defense but only getting to the stripe 11 times at home (SFA shot 18) is odd......only 11 made 2 pt FGs......need to get some more wins...not easy with Nicholls, Northwestern State and Southeastern at home and ACU on the road.....maybe need to go 2-2 so no one sneaks up from behind.....Go SugarBears!!

Nicholls@UCA

NSU 20-12-12-23= 67 (7-10)
UCA 9-18-9-22=57 (7-10)

NSU/UCA

FGs:45% v 41%
3s: 38% v 46%
FTs: 79% v 79%....Colonels +15 made...on our court!!
Rebs: 25 v 26
TOs: 20 v 21...still way too many TOs

Hannah Langhi 13 points, Carley Hudspeth career-high 11, Taylor Sells 10

Really needed this win.....4 teams fighting for 3 spots....this could have given us 2 games up on Nicholls instead of being tied....

On a positive note...…...Purple Rage pep ban sounded great in radio background....

SLC Standings

Remaining games then estimated final record. Lost opportunity today to firm up tourney berth....not likely we will beat ACU on the road......SLU handled us earlier....need to win 2 of last 3 to have a decent chance.....if we tie with Nicholls, we split with them this season so a tie breaker rule decides...…..

I think some of your numbers are off. Just checking a couple of random sites, I'm not sure records are current (e.g. SLU is currently 7-9 in conference) and I don't think you've counted all of the remaining games -- you've got projected final records that don't total 20 conference games. Using SLU again as an example, they've got 4 more games, not 3.

@AbileneChristian

UCA 15-20-16-20=71 (7-11)
ACU 14-27-27-25=93 (14-4)

https://ucasports.com/news/2020/2/29/womens-basketball-sugar-bears-suffer-93-71-loss-at-abilene-christian.aspx

UCA/ACU

FGs: 38% v 61%...SBs were 50% for 2 pt FGs..SBs +15 on shots taken
3s: 15% v 50%....SBs shot 26....lots of misses
FTs: 81% v 69%..higher % but ACU still +3 made
Rebs: 31 v 36
TOs: 9 v 15 ...much better TO results

This always looked a tough game to win....25 personal fouls with a good team like ACU is bad news.....plus a team that does not shoot 3s well launches 26 3s of 66 total shots.....needless to say defense had a bad day.....

"The Sugar Bears got 21 points from Briana Trigg, who was 7-of-14 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and a 5-of-6 showing at the free throw line. Taylor Sells added 18 points, 6 rebounds and a team-high 4 assists while playing all 40 minutes; and Ayanna Trigg added 11 points and led the team with 9 rebounds and a season-high 4 steals."

Need to get a couple wins to close out season...Go SBs.....

Big win to keep alive for Katy....Go SugarBears!!

Getting to Katy....2 fighting for last spot..SBs have to win and get some help from UNO....tonight's loss at home may have been the backbreaker....SLU and UCA split ..not sure of next tiebreaker....last 5 seeding still in play....

SUGAR BEARS HOLD OFF LADY LIONS FOR 54-47 WIN

Quote:
Despite Wednesday's victory, the Sugar Bears were eliminated from contention for the Southland Conference Tournament by virtue of Nicholls' win at McNeese – ending any hope of the three-way tie with the Colonels and Lady Lions needed for the Sugar Bears to crack the field for the 10th consecutive season.

Rebuilding is tough, but it happens and these ladies made the best of it!

FTs: 70% v 75%

Taylor Sells finishes stellar career with a solid 13/11/4As/1S/1B.....Brianna Trigg leads with a fine 23/9/3...Hannah Langhi a solid 9/8/2A/1B...

Many chances to have made the tourney but not to be this year.....good to win last 2....Go SugarBears!!
