The WAC the last two (2) weeks, has made overtures to five (5) Southland Conference Schools teams _ Two (2) Big Sky Conference Schools have been named as having received invites to the WAC. Football huge driver and ALL programs would come if they approve....

Hit List of Schools Considering Leaving Southland/Big Sky:
Southland Conference Teams are: Abilene Christian Wildcats, Lamar Cardinals, Sam Houston State Bearkats, Houston Baptist and Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks.

Big Sky Conference Teams are: Southern Utah State and Northern Arizona.

Saturday Update: D2 West Texas AM - Canyon, TX considering jumping to D1 and this could be addtional WAC addition like this year with Tarleton State.

Word is the WAC with new schools that have football _ Dixie State U.-St George, Utah | Tarleton State-90 miles from Abilene,TX and New Mexico State-Las Cruces, NM Want to Add: Big Sky Schools - Southern Utah-Cedar City, UT and Northern Arizona-Flagstaff, AZ, Abilene Christian no brainer and the others creates East & West Conference for all sports and develops rivalries.

No brainer as old WAC was Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Wyoming etc. They want back into football. Plus, there is discussion with ALL their money Grand Canyon U adding football. Plus, remove Chicago State and UMKC basketball only and two time zones away.

This has true legs __ reduction travel costs, major travel advantages as Southwest Airlines close by airports El Paso, Midland, Las Vegas, Phoenix Houston and connections work with these schools. Plus one article the Texas schools want out playing the Louisiana schools and the island campus out of the geographical norm Central Arkansas.

If these schools bolt or the majority this conference is doomed meaning Southland. Word is Big Sky financially would love to see NAU and Southern Utah leave as both schools are remote and after flying in to Las Vegas or Phoenix _ 3-5 hour charter bus rides. No brainer operating saving to a budget to cut them loose.
