Champion Christian (Hot Springs) @ UCA (exhibition)

CCC 11-17=28
UCA 50-42=92

CCC/UCA

FGs: 12% v 54%
3s: 9% v 44%
FTs: 67% v 82%
Rebs: 5/22/27 v 9/41/50
TOs: 23 v 14

We needed this game before the season started but at least Bears got a chance to let a lot of bench players get minutes. Now to play well at Baylor on 12/29.

Go Bears!!

We didn't pay this team anything did we? If we did, what on earth did we have to gain from this?

Don't know this, but I predict that UCA did pay them something.

What did we gain from this game ? Really, not a damn thing. Yes, it was a home game and yes, everyone including student managers, got a chance to play.

I have always hated games like this. Also, did you see that they just added this game a few days ago....Go Figure

It was an exhibition game——doesn’t count on the record.

I guess Champion Baptist pleaded and begged until Brad or the coach said yes. They usually play D2 schools like SAU and Henderson State. Even then, those schools still win big.

I would imagine officially playing an ACCA school, regardless of outcome, is a negative for your season resumé.

Playing them as a tune-up exhibition game, particularly this year, seems reasonable.

I am going to venture a guess and say they just wanted or needed a home game since the first home game was not on the schedule early on. Again, just a guess. Pretty sad state of affairs when Champions Freakin' Baptist is the only team we can get to come to our place.

By the way....just hit me that the Bears are facing #2 ranked Baylor this afternoon at 3 O'Clock in Waco.

Final tune up, if you want to call it that, before the start of conference play this weekend at McNeese.

The Bears fall at #2 Baylor this afternoon 93-56.

UCA moves on to face McNeese State in the Southland Conference opener Saturday afternoon.

UCA@#2Baylor

UCA 35-21=56
BAY 53-40=93

UCA/BAY

FGs: 35% v 50%...Bears only 9/34 2s....Baylor +15 made 2s
3s: 46% v 43%....Baylor only +1 made
FTs: 2/5/40% v 6/8/75%...looks like referees let them play
Rebs: 7/28/35 v 9/34/43
TOs: 24 v 14

24 TOs and getting out rebounded a pretty good way to lose a basketball game...

DeAndre Jones had a nice game with 19/7/2As/3Ss...6 made 3s....and only 3 TOs......very solid especially vs #2 team.....

Eddy Kayouloud also a very nice game with 15/5/2A...in only 25 minutes.....

Masai Olowokere hung in with a 8/5 game but had 5 TOs....Chatham added 6 rebs....including 3 of our 7 o-rebs....

Hope we get after McNeese from the start....we have the talent to do well in Southland...Go Bears!!

Your right JRK, the talent is there, if we can just execute . Now that the athletic department has made it's money for the fiscal year, maybe mens basketball can build some momentum and get things going.

Can’t blame anyone other than UCA alumni
for the need to play money games. Not much
money coming in to the athletic department.
It’s a necessary evil to keep the program up
and running.

Makes me sick to hear, but I’ve heard it over
and over again...”I’m a UCA grad but I’m a Hog
fan” Mommie and Daddy wouldn’t let me go
to the big bad U of A but we support the pigs
anyway.

Think I’ll go throw Up... :?

Do it regularly during the football season when the high and mighty piglets start their stuff....

UCA@McNeese

UCA 43-38=81
MSU 31-36=67

UCA/MSU
FGs: 49% v 32%...+3 shot and +11 made......
3s: 35% v 39%....MSU +3 made
FTs: 17/23/73% v 22/33/67%
Rebs: 12/33/45 v 9/21/30.....excellent stat
TOs: 18 v 13 ...still too high

That's the way to get a win....against a 6-3 team at their house....

Another strong game from Bergerson with 18/4/2S....Jones solid at 14/9/3A/3S but 6 TOs...still 43% FGs and 7/9 FTs....Bennett 13/6 and Chatham 13/5.....Baker got in the mix with 9/2/4A.....good balance....

Enjoy the ride home and get ready for UNO on Wed and SHS on Sat at home.....Go Bears!!
