FGs: 49% v 32%...+3 shot and +11 made......
3s: 35% v 39%....MSU +3 made

Rebs: 12/33/45 v 9/21/30.....excellent stat
TOs: 18 v 13 ...still too high

That's the way to get a win....against a 6-3 team at their house....

Another strong game from Bergerson with 18/4/2S....Jones solid at 14/9/3A/3S but 6 TOs...still 43% FGs and 7/9 FTs....Bennett 13/6 and Chatham 13/5.....Baker got in the mix with 9/2/4A.....good balance....

Enjoy the ride home and get ready for UNO on Wed and SHS on Sat at home.....Go Bears!!

Congratulations to the Bears on a 1-0 start in league play. Get ready for the next one.....

UNO@UCA

UNO 41-38=79
UCA 38 -45=83

UNO/UCA
FGs: 38% v 57% ... Bears 27/42 for 2s and a torrid 64%...+14 PIP
3s: 33% v 33%...UNO +4 made
FTs: 79% v 77%
Rebs: 16/21/37 v 6/26/32 ....UNO +12 on 2nd chance pts
TOs: 9 v 13.....Bears +5 on blocks and UNO +5 on steals....kudos to UNO for only 9 TOs...

Made this one too close but a win is a win.....Bergerson superb night with 25/59A/1S...Bennett also superb at 21/3/1S and FG% of 87% and FT at 78%....in only 29 minutes....Kayouloud a nice game with 11/3/2A/1B/1S....Shittu a solid 6/7/2B/1S.....Chatham at 4/6.....lost Jones early in game.....

Sam at 4pm on Sat at FC......Go Bears!!

SHS@UCA

SHS 51-40=91
UCA 39-41=80

SHS/UCA
FGs: 48% v 48% ....UCA +3 made....Bears made 2s while Kats made 3s
3s: 39% v 21% ... Kats +10 made....game over
FTs: 80% v 68%...Bears +15 made....not enough to offset 3s..
Rebs: 9/23/32 v 13/31/44...another good game on boards for Bears
TOs: 9 v 17......Kats +11 on fast break points...odd that is the game margin

Kudos (no game ball without a win) to Bergerson for an other excellent offensive showing...21/8/5A/2S/1B....and only 2 TOs....Chatham added a fine 19/10 double double but had 5 TOs....Bennett also a solid game with 16/5/2A/2B...Baker also added 11......

While this looks like a familiar SHS team we have seen over the years...........but this time we played pretty well toe to toe in H1 except for a 4-5 minutes late in H1 when Kats out scored Bears by 7 to go to the dressing room.........Kats pushed lead out to near 20 at start of H2 but Bears fought back to get within reach....this was for being undefeated in SLC play and on top.....TOs and poor 3s shooting spelled doom.....still reasons to be optimistic....

Next Wed go to take on Jacks in Nacogdoches...another big game and a chance for Bears to show their grit...

Go Bears!!

Being down 12 at the half at home sure didn't help. Great game and continued solid efforts by UCA. I am really liking this coach so far.

This may have been mentioned in an earlier post, but I understand that Deandre Jones is done for the year after suffering a knee injury at McNeese.

Hate it for him...hope he has a full recovery.

Now continuing without your point guard...that can be tough.

Go Bears!!!

Going to be real tough, next man up? Do we have a next man? Could Deandre get a medical readshirt?

UCA@SFA

UCA 31-38=69 (3-9/2-2)
SFA 43-52=95 (6-2/2-0)

UCA/SFA
FGs: 45% v 55%....SFA +11 shots taken and +11 made.....100% on extras!!
3s: 40% v 33%....Jacks +3 made
FTs: 74% v 78%
Rebs: 9/21/30 v 10/22/32
TOs: 19 v 10

Hard to beat a good team with 19 TOs even when shooting well.......Jacks turned 13 steals into 35 fast break points.....pretty much the game....

Still, some good efforts.........Bergeson again excelled with 19/5/4A/1S....Samson George had a nice 10/6 on 55% FGs......Bennett and Baker each added 9 and Chatham had a solid 8/6 outing....Go Bears!!

Nicholls@UCA

NSU 40-34=74
UCA 42-30=72

NSU/UCA
FGs: 44% v 42%
3s: 30% v 28%...Colonels +5 made......
FTs: 67% v 90%.....Bears +9 made
Rebs: 9/25/34 v 12/29/41..somehwat offset by NSU being +5 on steals
TOs: 9 v 13

Bergerson once again had an exceptional game with 24/3/4A.......Chatham had a terrific 14/18 on 40% FGs and 6/7 FTs....Shittu a solid 10/5....Bennett added 11......Kayouloud playing point much of the game in Jones absence went 6/3 BUT zero TOs....

Tough to lose a home game by so close that was very winnable but these Bears do not give up when they get down....they still have plenty of work to do and have the capability to get it done........keep playing hard.....now off to ACU and Hammond for the next two....Go Bears!!

From what I can tell, the Bears don't even have a backup point guard. I was told Saturday that the two backups behind Jones are injured.

A good, solid point is a HUGE necessity.

Hope the Bears can get it together this week.

Don Dyer use to say that it all starts with the point guard....your right Foot, the Bears are in trouble without one.
