Starting on a positive note...maybe a chance to see some video of what he looks like on the court....hope he has a good summer season....he should feel at home when he gets on campus as each Conway and Malmo have McDonald's, Subway and Burger King....Go Bears!!

https://ucasports.com/news/2021/7/20/mens-basketball-ucas-klintman-playing-for-home-country.aspx

CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas incoming freshman Ibbe Klintman is playing for the Sweden U20 National Team this summer.

Klintman, a 6-foot-8 guard/forward from Malmo, Sweden, signed with the Bears in April. He will represent Sweden in Nordic U20 Cup from July 20-23. The rest of the field consists of Estonia, Finland and Iceland competing in the four-day tournament at Kalevi Sports Hall in Estonia.

"Ibbe is a remarkable young man that I am glad is becoming a part of the UCA family,' said UCA head coach Anthony Boone. "I'm very excited that he has the opportunity to represent his country on the Swedish U20 team.'

Klintman played at Scotland Campus Prep.

"We are excited for Ibbe and the whole team to see what we can do on the court after a tough preparation camp,' said Sweden coach Panagiotis Nikolaidis. "Ibbe will bring great shooting ability to the team on the wings and defensivly he can be used at many positions due to his size and length.'

Bears getting ready I hope for a tough opening schedule....

11/9: @Saint Louis
11/12: @ Butler
11/17: @ Baylor
11/20: @ ORU

I have no idea what to expect of Bears this season....hoping Kayouloud and Chatham make another leap up....and freshmen and transfers adapt soon....focus on fundamentals.....you can always play good defense even when shots not falling.....practice free throws a LOT.....then get to the line a LOT....Go Bears!!

11/9/21 @Saint Louis University

UCA 32-29=61
SLU 43-53=96

Shooting not terrible.....40% FGs...37% 3s....62% FTs.....not many other stats to brag on but were +4 blocks..

Bears were <10> TOs....SLU got 15 more FGAs than Bears....<14> rebounds....<6> steals....<13> POTO....<20> PIP.....

Cooper led Bears with 12 on 5/8 FGs including 2 3s....Hunter added 10.....Hall a 7/7 night...

First 15 minutes went decently....down only 29-32 ..led for over 7 minutes....Bills then finished half on 11-1 run....never looked back...

Decent crowd of >4800....

13 Bears played and 11 scored....

Next is Friday @Butler.....gets tougher quickly...

11/12/21 @ Butler

UCA 30-23=53
BU 38-47=85

Another decent H1.....down only 24-22 with 4:30 in half....H2 was another matter.....never made a run....

Starters scored 33 points....Camren Hunter led with 14 on 50% FG shooting....Eddy Kayouloud came off bench and scored 10 in 23 minutes on 4/7 FGs....Darious Hall had a solid 9/6 game in 27 minutes.....

Next game is 11/17 @ Baylor.....like to see some H2 improvement.....

Folks

Another season and truthfully, leaving the Southland for the ASUN, the travel with this type of roster, could be tough mile after miles on the road. Losing and confined travel for the next three (3) months will be even worse.

This jump was strictly football related and with the recent Sun Belt, WAC and Conference USA activities, Brad Teague had no clue and secondly NO one wanted UCA in the shuffling of football related moves.

Back to hoops ___ Hendrix and Champions College will be their only wins in November and December. Possible 3rd win (vs.) VMI (or) Presbyterian in New Orleans. Folks this is a very bad and untalented core and it will play out just that in 20221/22. Feel bad for Coach Boone __ tremendous man, but he does not have and never has even with Pennell, "The Jimmy's and the Joe's". His staff way over their heads, should be coaching HS/JUCO period.

Checked a former player __ Rylan B is playing at Eastern Washington, and there not starting / father is on the staff. Should stayed at UCA. Bennett is at West Texas CC. Hayden Koval, now in his 3rd program and because Covid-19 is at Cinncy of ACC for 6th year.

This going to be long season ___ O/U 2021-22 8 wins.

UCA Football is the sport that only counts!

11/17/21 @Baylor

UCA 20-27=47
BAY 43-49=92

Not competitive from the start....Bears turned ball over 29x on 21 Baylor steals.....also, only shot 31%....

"UCA finished with three players in double figures, led by junior forward Eddy Kayouloud with 14 points. Junior transfer Darious Hall had his first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while true freshman V.J. Reeves chipped in 10 points off the bench, hitting 5 of 10 field goals and pulling down three rebounds."

Next game at home on Sat at 3:15pm vs ORU.....ORU lost opener at Colorado State by 109-80......only win over SW Christian by 121-50...playing Haskell tonight...

UCA 38-32=70 (1-3)

Nice home opener win.....almost let it get away but held on...

UCA/ORU

3s%: 29% v 21%....Bears +1 made....only hit 1-10 in H2

TOs: 16 v 10...ORU +9 POTO..TOs still high
Rebs: 10-34-44 v 10-27-37

Darious Hall led with 19/16 game in 32 minutes.....Camren Hunter was 17/8 in 35.... Collin Cooper scored 13 in 36...

Off to NOLA for 3 games Wed-Fri vs UNO, VMI and Presbyterian.....

Go Bears!!

"CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears are officially 1-0 on Scottie Pippen Court.

The Bears jumped out to a 38-21 halftime lead, then held on to knock off the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 70-67 in Saturday's debut of the new court, named for UCA's most famous alumnus and six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls.

UCA (1-3) used stellar defense and balanced scoring to beat ORU, which lost to Arkansas in the NCAA Sweet 16 last season. The Bears held ORU's leading scorer Max Abmas to just 8 points on 3-of-18 shooting. ORU's Issac McBride, from Baptist Prep in Little Rock, made up much of the difference for the Golden Eagles (2-2), scoring 25 points, including 21 in the second half.

But the Bears scored just enough in the second half, including five free throws in the final 8.8 seconds from junior transfer Darious Hall and Collin Cooper. Hall led the Bears with 19 points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds as UCA won the battle of the boards 44-37. UCA freshman guard Camren Hunter of Bryant added 17 points and 8 rebounds, while Cooper scored 13 points, including a huge stretch of three consecutive three-pointers in the first half.

"It was great. I wasn't sure how we were going to handle it because we're not accustomed to playing at home this early in the season,' said UCA head coach Anthony Boone. "But our guys were so energetic, so excited to be playing at home, excited for the new court. The atmosphere was electric, it was an incredible environment.'

UCA trailed 17-13 with 9:34 left in the first half before the Bears put together a 25-4 run to close out the half. UCA was 6 of 14 (42.9 perccent) from three-point range in the half, including five straight by Cooper (3), Camren Hunter and Jaxson Baker over a 2:30 span that pushed a 21-17 lead to 36-21.

Abmas, who averaged 24.5 points per game a year ago, went 0 for 12 in the opening, and missed his first 15 field goal attempts. ORU was 1 of 10 from three-point range at halftime and finished 6 of 28 (21.4 percent).

"Our guys were locked in defensively, that was mostly what it was,' said Boone. "We did make some shots, which was great because we haven't done that very well yet this year. But it was defense and rebounding, that's what got it for us.'

The Golden Eagles fought back behind McBride in the second half and got to within 52-50 with 6:00 minutes left. UCA then scored eight straight points, with baskets from four different players (Hall, Cooper, Hunter, Eddy Kayouloud). McBride's two free throws with 9.1 seconds left made it a one-point game at 68-67 but Cooper's final two free throws sealed it. Abmas then missed twice at the line with 2 seconds left.

"The situations we were in there at the end, we practice those over and over,' said Boone. "And we can't simulate the game as much in practice, but the guys were accustomed to it and they were comfortable. It was great to see them step and make all those free throws.'

Hall, who played previously at Arkansas and DePaul, had been through stressful situations before. His 16 rebounds was his season-high by six and gives him 26 in his last two games.

"It's huge for us,' Boone said of Hale's play. "No. 1, how he rebounded for us today. Darious always talks about how well he jumps and I told him I haven't seen that yet. But today he was really feeling it. He had a lot of energy and was making plays defensively and on the offensive end. That was huge. A lot of times it was right at the right time for us.'

UCA hits the road for three games in three days at New Orleans, playing the host Privateers on Wednesday, Virginia Military Institute on Thursday and Presbyterian on Friday."

I think the next three are all winable. Honestly the ORU win was a real big suprise before that I had us winless almost to Christmas. But the team has shown some ability so we might get a decent (for uca basketball anyway) season.

ORU game was miracle as their top player shot 1-16 from field and that was game and even in 2nd half, UCA struggles so bad at the offensive end.

UCA program has gone back to true reality as I watched both games in New Orleans __ Again this team struggles so bad on the offensive end. They truely have NO go to player and going into the next next 5-6 games, NO inside play and bench is none existent. Play Eddie K more and sit Baker play freshman.

Presby, Arkansas, Ark State, Little Rock and Texas A&M __ five (5) more losses putting them at 1-10 __ Two exhibitions vs. Champions / might call close game (or) could Hendrix upset UCA?

Majority of ASUN teams are playing well with typical schedules like UCA is playing.

Stick to my over/under 8 games for the season ....... Coach Boone needs help across the board.
