Hope Rueter's injury is not too bad. Nice win for the Bears against a DI opponent. Good to see the FG% increase and 20 Rebounds by Nevels..is that a career high? Got to work on those turnovers.
Overall great job Bears!

Was just looking at the box score and realized that we were down 1 at the half (27-26), but went on to score 43 points in the 2nd half!! That is pretty impressive to me.

yeah we held the lead much of the first half, but a late scoring run by AAM gave them the 1 point lead.

We obviously played much better, shot much better, and particularly int he first half it sounded as if our D was outstanding.

The team is sticking around for at least the first half of the UK-GW game before flying out sometime tomorrow morning, so now they can relax and enjoy bball at a historic place and enjoy their win tonight!

CENT. ARKANSAS 69, ALABAMA A&M 59
Bears take control in opener
By Jerry Tipton
JTIPTON@HERALD-LEADER.COM
Led by forward Durrell Nevels, Central Arkansas beat Alabama A&M 69-59 in Rupp Arena last night to win the consolation game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Lexington regional. Nevels, who became his school's career leader in blocked shots by rejecting three Kentucky shots on Tuesday night, scored 13 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. He got 14 of those rebounds in the second half, a feat all the more remarkable because Central Arkansas found its shooting eye after halftime. The Bears made only 20 percent of their shots against UK, and were only slightly better in the first half against Alabama A&M (29.6 percent)...

Bears' rebounding takes bite out of Dawgs

By DAVID MCCOLLUM
LOG CABIN STAFF WRITER

LEXINGTON, Ky. The University of Central Arkansas Bears benefitted as much Wednesday night from what went out than what went in.

With 6-foot-6 forward Durrell Nevels leading the way with a career-high 20 rebounds (the highest by a UCA player since 1977), the Bears held a whopping 54-30 edge on the boards on the way to their first victory of the season, 69-59 over Alabama A&M in the consolation game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic at Rupp Arena.

UCA's 37-22 advantage on the defensive board took away the Bulldogs' most effective weapon...

Nevels makes history with 20 rebounds

By DAVID MCCOLLUM
Log CABIN STAFF WRITER

LEXINGTON, Ky. The 20 rebounds by the University of Central Arkansas' Durrell Nevels set a 2K Sports College Hoops Classic record, breaking the previous mark of 19 by Quintin Butler of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) against Savannah State in 2004.

BLOCKER: Alabama A&M forward Mickell Gladness set an all-time tournament record for blocks in a game with nine against UCA, eclipsing eight set by Syracuse's Darryl Watkins in 2005. The 6-foot-11 senior forward led the NCAA in blocked shots last year at 6.3 blocks per game. Two games deep into the season, he has 15 blocks...

Two Bears combine for a memorable night at Rupp

Senior Durrell Nevels had a scrapbook rebounding game in the icon sports venue: 20 rebounds, 13 points...
