FRISCO, Texas – After posting the highest point total in the SLC this year, Northwestern State’s Trey Gilder was named Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week today. It is the first honor of his career.
Gilder posted his first career double-double Saturday against Tennessee Tech, as he led the Demons to the 83-81 comeback win. Gilder became the first Northwestern player in 10 years to score 30+ points with a 32-point performance in the game (13-21 FGs), also snagging 10 rebounds against the Golden Eagles in 28 minutes. He also scored 19 points with six rebounds against Houston Baptist.
On the season, Gilder is averaging 15.7 points per game, currently ranking No. 6 in the SLC.
