Bear and Sugarbear Basketball

A couple of Tidbits of information on the teams.

I visited with Rand Chappell late last week and he said recruiting is going very well, but said it he is in hopes of finding some more guards for next year. He couldn't be specific, but indicated that recruiting is much better.

Something you knuckle heads need to go ahead and make plans for.

The Bears will make a second trip to Las Vegas, Nevada in December.
The classic will be played the weekend before Christmas. I was told we had between 15 and 20 fans make the trip last year. I understand more information on this is on the way.

Regarding the Sugar Bears, I understand they are having problems scheduling games. After that trip to the final four last season, no one wants to schedule them. I understand Checola and Jeremy are working overtime to get the schedule worked out. Stay tuned.

I can confirm that a new women's basketball assistant coach is on staff and on the road recruiting. I haven't seen an official announcement yet.

Jill Murders is a new assistant and will be in charge of recruiting.

I'm sure you were all breathlessly awaiting that announcement.

You correct on Jill...she has been around since late May or early June.

Don't know why there has not be an announcement, but she has been around for a while.

Anyone know any background info? I did a quick search and came back with nothing.

Know absolutely nothing about her.

She's got to be good...heck, Seals wouldn't have hired her.

From what little I can remember, she went to Tech :evil:

and then was a HS coach at Plainview and one of the private schools in Ft Smith.

Also, what is the CBSA Guide? That is some good info on the school and the system Checola runs.

Is this lady old or young? You don't hear that last name much, especially not in the form of a coach...so I'm just asking. About 10 years ago, I went to a basketball camp at OBU, and one of the coaches there was named Coach Murders. Don't know if it's the same one....maybe it's her daughter. But seriously, if it is her....wow! She doesn't mess around and lives up to her last name very well! I've never hurt so much in my life as I did that one week at OBU! She was serious about some defense!

This Coach Murders is in her late 20's early 30's and did play at Tech, (we all have our faults).

The Ladybug is right...she doesn't mess around. Great addition to the staff.
