From the LCD:
Reflections on the twists and turns of a unique season

Quote:
Basketball season in Faulkner County this year was an extreme thrill ride.

It was like no other for the extraordinary twists, blind turns, breathtaking plunges and sudden jolts.

David gives a review of basketball on all levels.

Another story in today's LCD...Analyzing the state of UCA's basketball program

UCA fans could experience some tense moments if Rand Chappell becomes a viable candiate for the Missouri State job in his hometown of Springfield. Barry Hinson resigned that position Monday....

I'm not too worried since we are only averaging four conference wins a year in men's basketball. I don't think that would be too terribly attractive to the folks up there.

I hope he can get things turned around here.

FWIW, he was not one of the eight candidates mentioned as possibilities by the Springfield News-Leader. Of course it was just some names cooked up by a couple guys on the paper's staff and not necessarily from the AD, but you never know how much they may or may not know.

http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080311/SPORTS040101/803110371/1002/SPORTS

Check the Possible Candidates list over on the right side.

I don't think Bear fans have a thing to worry about. At least not as far as the MSU job goes.

Chappell was strongly considered at MSU when Hinson was hired. He has deep connections there and is, as we know, highly regarded in coaching circles. The transition record is not as much a factor, although none of this is to say he is being considered or would consider a move right now.
