VERY, VERY small crowd...
Also, understand the Sugarbears lost this evening 52-TO-50.

I guess a team that beat Georgia on the road can be a handful. They simply blew us out the 2nd half from the first minute. Islanders win 2nd half by 45-20!!

UCA led by Mitch Rueter with 10 followed by Brooks Taylor at 8 and Marcus Pillow at 7.

Rand pleased with last 15 minutes of 1st half, mostly the hustle. Did not compete well in 2nd half......stood around and watched ......did not get after it....seldom made right decision on offense with passes....we have some things to correct on offensive end....their 7 footer is talented guy who plays with energy.....did pretty good job defensively on Palmer until late when it did not matter...SF Austin is experienced and will be tough....need to have a big crowd.....team has some soul searching to do....

Stats summary:

UCA 12/48 25% with 4/16 3s and 16/24 FTs Turnovers 14
TAMCC 30/69 43% with 6/23 3s and 4/15 FTs Turnovers 11

TAMCC had 51 rebounds (21/30) while Bears could only manage 36 (11/25)

Islanders move to 7-9 and 1-0 while Bears fall to 7-7 and 0-1

WOW! That was an ugly 2nd half for the Bears! I don't think I've seen many box scores where a team scores fewer points in the 2nd half than they did in the first like the Bears did tonight (24 in 1st, 20 in 2nd)! I've got a scary feeling that this is going to be a LONG season for this team...

It sounds like the Bears went to the restroom at the half and never came back. Reminds me of one my smarter exes.

I think just about anyone can press us. We just don't handle it well at all. I think the word is out: press or 1/2 court trap UCA.

Most teams have a hard time handling a close press and especially the Nolan (midcourt) Trap....after watching teams at Bud Walton trying to handle Nolan's really oppressive mid court traps it seems you either (a) have to be good enough handling the ball to blow through it (very hard), (b) go over the top qucikly which requires teammates to be open or (c) anticipate and NEVER let yourself get in the coffin corner and get the ball downcourt very fast......the latter is the only one where you have any control over the outcome...the other two are turnovers quite often due to poor execution.....we will see how the Bears deal with this.....
