Nicholls State (15-10/8-4)
UCA (9-16/2-10)

Colonels 2nd in SLC East by 3 games over McNeese

Last meeting...

Nicholls...6 road wins on season....

L at Texas State by 71-66
W at SELA by 52-50
W at Sam Houston by 60-59

UCA......7 home losses.....only 2 by less than 10....

L at UTA by 87-73
L at home vs Northwestern State by 79-77
L at UTSA by 88-79

By all measures Nicholls should win this game......if Bears play well they might catch Colonels napping since NWSU is almost certainly tourney bound.....this game and McNeese are best chances for wins.....SELA is also on a 7 game skid and could be in a funk when we get there on Sat....play hard and smart and good things happen....

UCA lost a very close on...
58-60

Game tied with 24 secs left then a foul by Brooks Taylor with 9 secs left and Nicholls makes both FTs and we miss a 3 to win...

It is promising to see the Bears battle back after leading most of the game and then going down by 10, but battle back to tie. That is encouraging...just need a couple extra gears and this would not have even been a game!
Also, noticed that Chris Brown is not listed in the stats as having played!?

He also was not on the bench. Has he quit the team??? Anyone know. I asked because even when he was hurt, he sat on the bench.

[url=http://www.thecabin.net/stories/030309/spo_0303090016.shtml]Chappell said 6-foot-8 sophomore forward Chris Brown, who missed both of last week games, is serving an indefinite disciplinary suspension.

Battling back and still losing is not a sign of anything but another loss. I just heard on the radio that 184 teams will be eligible for three post season tournaments..........and we ain't gonna be one of them. I think that's pretty sad.

to be fair, we wouldn't have been eligible even if we were undefeated this season!

But smartassness aside, I see your point! Just thought I'd inject some humor once today!

As far as I can tell, it's only 129 in four tournaments (65 NCAA, 32 NIT, 16 CBI and 16 CIT). 129 teams is barely over a third of the Division I teams in the country.

As a transitional D-I team in the Southland Conference, I don't think it's reasonable to already expect us to be among the top third of teams in the country. The state of the program might be sad, but not because we're not in a postseason tourney.

We should expect to be better than we are, yeah, but I don't think a national postseason tournament should really be our standard right now. Being competitive in the league would be a good start. Being .500 in the SLC and/or making the SLC tournament (once we're eligible) would be fantastic, even if that doesn't equate to a national postseason tournament appearance.

Of course that's just my opinion, which – from time to time – varies from yours ever so slightly.
