UCA ..... 1-9 in last 10

L at SELA, 98-61
L v Nicholls, 60-58
L at UTA, 87-73

Game Notes:

Division leader SFA will be looking to fine tune for the conference tourney and get 20th win. Playing at home on a roll versus a team they handled rather well on the road seems to make for a long night for the Bears. SFA is led by Matt Kingsley who ranks 3rd in scoring at 17.1 ppg, 4th in rebounds at 8.3, 7th in FG% at 55.2% and 8th in blocks at 1.1/game. Nick Shaw is 7th in rebounds at 7.1/game.

Bears led by Brooks Taylor who ranks 11th in scoring at 13.6/game and Brian Marks is 5th in rebounding at 8.1/game.

On paper these teams are pretty even in shooting and defensive stats although Kingsley's 55% rate gives SFA a definite edge.

Bears have to execute very well to grab a win. The one area on paper UCA trails clearly is team defense at 73.7 per game. SFA leads SLC with scoring margin at +7 while UCA is last at -12. Bears must play better defense than against SELA and UTA where they gave up an average of 92 points!!!!

FINAL

SFA 61 (12-3/20-7)
UCA 39 (2-13/9-19)

Stats: (SFA/UCA)

FG: 25-63=40%; 13-58=22%
3s: 6-17=35%; 1-15=7%
FTs: 5-11=45%; 12-17=71%
R: 44; 47

Qahwash leads with 10 and Brewer tallies 9...Marks grabs 9 rebounds

Coach: Obviously got outclassed in 1st half by a good basketball team....SFA played 5 seniors ..... SFA calling card is defense and our 14% shooting in 1st showed refelected that.....we are not a great offensive team ....our guys played hard with energy in the 2nd half especially the 2nd team guys ...one more shot at home on Saturday vs McNeese.....we expect our guys to battle.......please come out and honor our seniors....

The evidence is there to do so, imo. However, he just signed a three year extension at the first of the season. I'm figuring he got hired cheap because of this money crunch thing we're in, therefore the reason for keeping him as opposed to finding another coach who would have cost more money. I feel that Teague's hands were maybe tied on this decision but I'm also giving Teague credit for having enough sense to realize that this program can't sink much lower before realizing that something will have to be done. You're not going to put butts in the seats continuing this trend. Three more years of this and we're going to have a program that could take a very long time to recover from.

Of course, I could be totally wrong about all this but as they say on CSI - the evidence speaks for itself.

But I also agree with HB...it may be a while before we see change due to the financial situation.

Terrell Owens just signed a 3 year deal last year for the Cowboys and he is gone now! Same can happen for Rand.....Ok bad example but seeing as to how a contract doesn't mean much anymore for people to stay around...I think you might see a change if enough fans put pressure on Teague!

Yeah, we can have change if we pressure Teague AND have the money to buyout Rand's contract!
