Bears continue tough stretch on road against Memphis

Quote:
To have a shot at making things competitive tonight against the University of Memphis, University of Central Arkansas men’s basketball coach Rand Chappell said the Bears are going to have to make more shots.

The Bears, who had trouble scoring last week in losses at Kansas and Western Illinois, play the Tigers at 7 tonight at the FedEx Forum in Memphis.

I'll try to post some updates from the FedEx Forum tonight! Go Bears!

Not that anyone apparently cares, but 81-49 final.

Obviously, no one cares...
I know the season is very young, and this team at times has played much better than in previous seasons, but I personally feel as though it is time for new leadership and a direction for this program. I have no hard feelings toward anyone or anything like that, in fact I thank the coaching staff and the players for their effort during this very difficult transition period. However, I think now is as good a time as any to try and right this sinking ship of a program. I feel as though Coach Chappell has had ample time to show improvement, but he hasn't gotten the job done for whatever reason.

2003-04 UCA 20-10 .667
2004-05 UCA 23-8 .742
2005-06 UCA 18-10 .643
2006-07 UCA 10-20 .333
2007-08 UCA 14-16 .467
2008-09 UCA 10-19 .345
UCA Total 95-83 .534

As evidenced by his past coaching records, he obviously can coach, but he just isn't getting the job done at UCA as a Division I institution.

OK, that is all I have to say...carry on.

Good to see at least a small but vocal group of Bear fans on hand at the FedEx Forum. Tigers were quick out front and strong inside, but we had our moments. Just couldn't string enough of 'em together.
Does anyone know how much we were paid for the game ?

Tonight was my first opportunity to see the Bears play this year and I felt they gave good effort. Memphis shot lights out, around 55% from the field and 75% on FT's. They made at least 12 3-point shots. The most important thing that I noticed was that UCA never quit. They played hard until the final buzzer and I look forward to watching them play again. I wish the Bears good luck this Saturday against Oakland. GO BEARS!!!

Chappell could coach in DII when he could pull transfers from DI and JUCO programs with very lackluster academic backgrounds. Now that he has to field players who have to meet higher standards, he's as bad as Conway's one homeless guy that hangs around Walgreen's. Please let this be the last year.

I just like his plan of attack..you know the one where he gets the players to pass the ball high around the horn....with no penetration or inside outside game....eats that clock right up!

I agree. But maybe if we hold a town vote we could get Jimmy Chitwood to play and make a run for a title.
