Bears 7-14/1-6; last in East; 2-8 on road
Lamar 11-11/3-4; 3rd in West; 10-2 at home

This will be a road challenge for Bears....Lamar is 10-2 at home with some good wins included. Both teams played McNeese at home and Lamar eked out a win while the Bears got whipped in maybe the worst game of the year. UCA played better on road at SELA than did Cardinals and Bears nearly got TSU in San Marcos while Lamar lost by 5 at home.

Although Lamar outscores UCA they also give up more and both teams on average lose by 3. Neither team is a great shooting team but Lamar has a narrow edge. UCA has a slight advantage in shooting defense and commits fewer TOs. Lamar has the rebounding edge.

Lamar has balanced scoring led by Anthony Miles at 14 and Justin Nabors at 14 with 10 rebounds and shooting over 51% from field.

Winning on the road is usually about solid defense, winning TO margin, staying pretty close on rebounds and hitting FTs. Bears need to do all of this but it is possible with hard and smart play. Need to hold Miles and Nabors under 10 each and make others step up. UCA needs good outing from Sheppard, Rueter and Poellnitz plus some solid inside play from Dos Carlos.

Stats and scores follow.

Go Bears!!

Two highly questionable calls in Lamar's favor...Miles rolls over on a loose ball and gets a timeout and shooting foul called 10 feet before shot that drops in....

Mitch now has 24.....

FINAL

Lamar 73 (12-11/4-4)
UCA 65 (7-15/1-7)

UCA/Lamar
FG%: 22-51/43%; 25-49/51%
3s%: 6-13/46%; 5-14/36%
FT%: 15-25/60%; 18-21/86%
Rebounds: 26/33
TOs: 12/14

Mitch Rueter 24
Chris Poellnitz 14
Tadre Sheppard 10

For Lamar.....Justin Nabor put up 24 and Anthony Miles scored 15 and Charlie Harper at 11

We let this one get away with missing 10 FTs.....this was a 1-3 point game until final minute....those missed FTs really hurt at the end....otherwise better than decent shooting....

Coach: Lamar pretty good rebounding team.....Tadre battled on boards but did not have much help....some very good things tonight but missed too many ....backcourt violation, missed dunk...no margin for making these errors....have to have these plays....proud of their character tonight...down by 12 and we got back to 1 but could not get over...effort was good....need to get Tadre to post up harder...Mitch had a good night and battled hard.....Chris had a good night and had he made the FTs he would have a very good night...next up is Sam Houston State...undefeated in SLC play and looks like the favorite for NCAA
tourney...

I like the effort they showed in competing against a Lamar that is tough, especially at home. Hopefully they will bring that same going to another tough place, Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas.
