Julian Spivey actually talked to a player, Mike Pouncy, to see
what he thought about the firing.
Quote:
"Personally it kind of sucks because I have built a relationship with all the coaches and got to know them on a more personal level and got real close to their families," Pouncy said. "But, I know college basketball is a business it's not like when I first started playing basketball and I was just happy to be running around on the court. For me now it's about how many times my team can win."
Pouncy said he understands why the decision to fire Chappell was made and is excited to see how the team rebounds.
"I understand why Dr. Teague had to let Coach go and I respect Dr. Teague's decision, it's kind of exciting to see what will happen because after seeing what the girls are doing after they got a new coach I am kind of hoping that we can have the same type of success," he said.
