I'm starting a fundraiser to pay all the greek organizations to show up for the games. Anyone want to give? =D>

My bad...

Actually MBs are hard sells for humor. I should have said

"Are those courtside seats next to the wall?"

Sorry.

I've never liked that big wall stopping fans from being close to the action. I know some others agree..and some don't. :)

This is an improvement. This should help getting our name out there at least. Hope we can pull off some wins

We need to find some clever way to embarass the greek orgs for not showing up at basketball games en masse.

We were taught that school spirit was one of the reasons greeks are allowed to begin with ...part of the overall community....and leaders in all things...

I know there are differences of opinion on this but look how the Bears played vs Nicholls on Pippen Night with 5400 loud fans in the FC..they out hustled the Colonels from the opening tip.....even late in the game with only 3000 or so left, they were still going hard... fill the FC up and most competitors will not want to disappooint their fans....another way of saying that fans can put pressure on the team and coaches to perform by being there to watch....

For our Southland opener against UT Arlington two years ago (the year UTA went to the NCAA tourney and beat UALR at UALR) I hosted a cookout for Greek organizations with the only requirement that they attend the basketball game and student services planned some activities for half time. We won that game and I KNOW the attendance helped, the kids respond to it and play harder!! I was so embarrassed/hurt/mad/disapointed when after the half and the free concessions ran out many left but many stayed and it was a big win, but no follow through. I don't understand why our kids do not want to come and support our basketball teams.

Of course, a sign of a mature, disciplined group is to play hard as if the gym was full. That is why it is so difficult to win on the road in basketball. The girls showed that if you win and have real student athletes the community will rally around you, now we need the students to do that as well.

I agree that lots more people come to games when you are winning...everyone likes a winner syndrome. Fair weather fans who drift off to their ipods....

Still, we need to get them competing to see who can be the biggest Bear backers can help the team....think like a 20 year old....

As a member of the Purple Rage and a fraternity, it's always p'd me off that most of the greeks leave at half-time (for the FEW games they show up to). That shows a lack of loyalty to one's Alma Mater. They usually end up sitting right next to us and they usually act as if the game isn't even going on most of the time. I just don't get that mindset. We have people in the BMB and Purple Rage that aren't sports fans at all but they cheer their brains out and show more spirit than 90% of the student body. I can't speak for every fraternity, but mine (Phi Mu Alpha) specifies that we should show/have "a loyalty to the Alma Mater". Without the college/university, there would be no fraternity. You gotta show some love for the institution that allows you to have a chapter and function.

I didn't notice until now that the walls are black. Anyone know if that's black paint? black padding? just a cover while they work on the floor? Is it going to remain solid black?

The black looks sharp in my opinion. I can see where some might not agree because it is not purple or gray. But it seems very apparent that black as an accent color is here to stay. Just look at the new logo.

The light blue is part of the logo application material that hasn't been removed yet. Since that is so blatantly obvious, I'm going to assume that you were just joking. You are such a riot.....

I concur with that statement. Definitely looks sharper/more modern.
