Pat Knight's Lamar University basketball team is not the only Southland Conference team set to participate in the ESPN BracketBusters event for the 2011-12 season.
All 12 Southland schools will be included in the BracketBusters pool this season, Southland commissioner Tom Burnett said Wednesday.
This marks the first time the entire conference will participate in the midseason event that pairs mid- and low-major teams against each other.
Last season's field included 114 schools. The field this season should be announced before the season. Pairings are announced about three weeks before BracketBusters are played in February.
Burnett said he expects all Southland teams to participate in the BracketBusters for at least the next four seasons, the duration of the league's TV deal with ESPN.
