With 16:11 left we only lead PS 62-58! That is crazy. We shouldn't even be close!

Make that 62-61...insane! Looks like hiring a big name with little coaching experience may not have been the best choice.

Very, very embarrassing. No way to sugarcoat this for you optimistics out there.

I think I would call myself an optimist in regard to UCA athletics. That being said, that was a very embarrassing showing by the Bears tonight. Poor execution all around and it looked like Philander Smith wanted the win tonight more than the Bears. You won't win many games when you go 6-20 from the free throw line either. A loss to an NAIA team at home shouldn't happen. Thing is though, while it shouldn't happen, it can and does happen and PS came to Conway at the right time to get the win. While it is disappointing (here comes the optimism), there's no reason to start going after Coach Williamson or the team three games into the new season. If the Bears are playing this way in February and March we'll have something to talk about. For now though, I'm seeing it as the Bears being 0-3 and tomorrow is a new day. What matters now is how they respond next Tuesday, and see if they have what it takes to put this one behind them and move on. I hope people don't give up on the team this season over a poor showing tonight. We're only three games in at this point. Plenty of time for the Bears to find their game.

GO BEARS!!

This is the worst loss since 1985!!! This is flat out embarrassing!! There is no reason why the men's basketball team shouldn't be showing improvement!

Look at the women, Daniel was left with ABSOLUTELY nothing, and he is getting the job done! This is pathetic.

It was a disappointing evening for sure, this was suppose to be our "guarantee"
first win of the season but as mentioned, lets not give up the ship yet. These are all new players trying to learn a new system and to jell. We'll see how the cards play out.

Just an idea.... How about the athletics department drop Men's Basketball and we use all the money we save for Women's Basketball (I.e. New gym, uniforms, etc).

I would argue that the women's program is by far the exception and not the rule. In the 2008-2009 season, the Sugar Bears were 6-23 and only won 2 conference games. Last year the Bears were 5-24 with 1 conference win. In 2009-2010, the Sugar Bears pulled off one of the biggest turnarounds in NCAA DI history and went 21-8. They did something that was incredible and highly unlikely. We have been fortunate to see the success that many of the programs on campus have had over the transition. Both WBB and Volleyball (and hopefully football) have gotten into the postseason within a year or two of being eligible to participate in postseason play which is a huge accomplishment. Yes it was disheartening and extremely embarrassing to lose to an NAIA team at home, but you have to give these guys more than a season and 3 games to get something done. They'll figure it out. It's probably not going to happens as quickly as it did for the Sugar Bears, and it would quite frankly be unrealistic to expect the same turnaround to happen to this team as it did for the 2009-2010 Sugar Bears.

to add to your last post DaBears, the Sugar Bears were also defeated in back-to-back seasons at home by Harding and UAM, the UAM loss in Matt's first season here. I post that just to give some more perspective that this has indeed happened on the Sugar Bears' side too.
