SUGAR BEARS DEFEND GSC TOURNAMENT TITLE
The UCA women’s basketball team will defend their Gulf South Conference Tournament in Tupelo, Miss. this weekend. Making their eighth straight appearance, and 10th overall, the Sugar Bears will face West Georgia on Thursday at 2:45 p.m. UCA is the third seed from the West division with a 9-7 record and the Braves are the second seed from the East with an 11-3 mark. Today’s game will the first ever meeting between the two schools. The winner will face the Henderson State/Valdosta State winner on Saturday.
A GLIMPSE AT WEST GEORGIA
The Braves are 18-9 overall and went 11-3 in the GSC-East. They have lost two of their last four games and are coming off a 57-53 win over Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Senior guard Tai Ellis leads the league in scoring and ranks sixth in the nation at 21.9 points per game. The Braves ranks last in the league in rebounding at 33 boards per contest.
