BEARS OPEN TOURNAMENT WITH #22 CHARGERS
The UCA men’s basketball team take on #22 Alabama-Huntsville in the Quarterfinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament on Friday. This will mark the third straight appearance for the Bears and the fourth overall. UCA has reached the Semifinals each of the past two seasons. The Bears are the third-seed from the West Division, while UAH is the second-seed from the East. The winner will face the victor of the Valdosta State/Delta State game.
A GLIMPSE AT ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE
The Chargers are 21-6 overall and 10-4 in the East division. They have lost three of their last five, including an 85-84 home loss to North Alabama on Saturday. Junior Jason Smith ranks fifth in the GSC in scoring with 20.1 points per game and ranks first with an 86.7 free throw percentage. Senior guard David Ivey averages 10.2 points and 5.5 assists per game. UAH leads the league in free throw percentage (74.8 ), assists (18.6) and fewest turnovers (12.4).

March 4, 2005- Tupelo, Miss.- The Bears defeated the Chargers 65-58 in the Quarterfinals of the 2005 GSC Tournament.

UCA AT THE GSC TOURNAMENT
This will be UCA’s fourth trip to the Gulf South Conference Tournament since joining the conference in 1993-94. The Bears made the tournament held in Cleveland, Miss. in 1998 and at Tueplo the last two seasons. UCA has a 5-3 record at the GSC Tournament. The Bears made it as far as the finals in 1998 and were a semifinalist last two years.
