Talked to Monty Rowell yesterday. He said he had talked to Coaches Seals and Chappell and that both indicated they were close to having their schedules completed.

Monty said that the Sugarbears are trying to schedule one more game while the Bears are searching for two more games. He said that both coaches indicated some real problems with scheduling this year because of the success they had last year.

He did say that the Bears will again be playing in the Las Vegas tournament in mid-December while the ladies will be playing three games in Arizona at the end of December.

Monty said he would get back with me when the schedules are completed.

Sorry I havn't had a chance to post recently....work has been a REAL killer.

well, i'm sure people don't want to play us because they don't want to lose... lots of folks load up their non-conference schedules with cupcakes... UCA is no cupcake.

Very true....personally, I don't care much for cupcakes, but that's just a fact of life.

From what I gather, most teams that are coming off a very good year have difficulty scheduling.

I can understand the Sugar Bears having trouble with the schedule because of the talent they have returning and the new players they are bringing in, but with the Bears, you would think that teams would be lining up to play them because of all the talent they lost off of last years team.

Time will tell

Most of the other coaches know how Chappell works. He's always been a big JUCO guy and he replaces his team every couples years and still has a lot of success. Just because he lost guys doesn't mean he won't get guys just as talented to replace them.

He came in two years ago and had a 15-win jump his first year. People know you never know what you're going to get with Rand until the season starts, and maybe later.

And, everybody fears Orion Fleissbach.

Great points....I have always found it amazing how Rand is successful year end and year out with the type of program he operates.

I have known coaches that have attempted to do their program like Rand does and they just can't do it.

He has always had a high amount of turnover each year and yet he comes back with another solid team the following year. I really find that amazing.

It's coaching and I think we finally have a good coach on the men's side again.

*I reserve the right to change my mind though.

Agreed, Rand is great. What about prior to him, when was the last time we had a good, solid coaching staff for men's b-ball?

Coach Dyer was a solid coach. He was a winner at both Henderson and UCA.
Coach Jones was promoted either as a reward for years of service or for the "Pippen" factor, since he knows Scottie's home and cell phone numbers.....take your pick. not a great coach, and his assistant coaches weren't very solid.
Coach Hervey, well, let's just try and forget those years. That was a dark time in the program.
