New to the site but a UCA student and a big bears fan!

Wondering what y'all thought of the game?
Also if anyone knew how good ASU basketball was this year?

Glad to see a student about "UCAallday" :D

ASU (3-5, RPI 183) has been struggling so far this season. They lost their last game to Austin Peay (1-9, RPI 290) and also lost their opening game to Lamar. Winnable game for the Bears if they can go up to Jonesboro and play like they did against SEMO. If they play like they did against the Reddies or Philander Smith it could get ugly. We've seen flashes of the level of play our guys are capable of in several games this season, and we're ranked higher in RPI and several key statistics. I think a couple of the keys to the game will be limiting the number of 3s. Instead, try to work the ball inside and drive to the basket. Maybe the most important key to the game would be to HIT FREE THROWS! I think the Bears have the momentum and if they follow those keys they'll get the win today.

I agree, this is a winnable game for the Bears if they come out focused. Go Bears!

I'm looking forward to this game as a measuring stick.
I'm hoping that the OVC games are showing that we're improving and that the games against lower-level competition were let ups.

But, Da Bears is right. We are going to lose a lot of winnable games if we don't make more free throws.

FINAL

UCA 64
ASU 71

Bears pulled to 44-42 with strong pressing then could not stop an ASU run that went to 59-50 and then to 64-50. Bears then staged a final run behind a couple of Jarvis Garner''s 3s starting at about the 1:30 to go mark and got to 67-64 before losing the FT game the final 25 seconds.

Bears shot poorly all night allthough ended up at 41% for FGs but made only four 3s and only 8 of 13 FTs. Out rebounded 39-33. Bears never led. Kept fighitng back but struggled scoring too often. Only getting to the FT line 13 times makes it tough to win what should be close games.

Leading scorers for UCA were:

Jarvis Garner 13
Mark Rutledge 13
LaQuentin Miles 12
Ryan Williams 9

Coach:
Did not come to play in first half tonight....got to pick up the energy in first halfToo many TOs in first half. Good runs in second half but could not hold the momemtum.

UCA drops to 5-4 and ASU improves to 4-5. Next is Iowa on 12/19, then Drake on 12/21.
