Yeah, the sound system is pretty bad. I was there for the volleyball tournament and couldn't really understand much of what the announcer was saying.

You can understand the announcer if your on the west side of the FC, however, on the east side, it is nothing more than a bunch of noise. You all are right, they really need to make an upgrade over there. Not just bad, but pretty bad.

UCA can't be that broke to install a simple sound system.

@Georgetown

https://ucasports.com/news/2019/11/9/mens-basketball-bears-hold-their-own-with-hoyas.aspx

UCA 42-36=78
GTU 54-35=89

Better than vs Baylor...…Koval had 21 pts with 4 rebs and 3 blocks...Hoyas outrebounded Bears by 23 total an d7 o-rebs....and were +5 on 2nd chance pts and +8 on fast break pts..... Bears had 12 3s.....

Much better performance against the Hoyas! This team should see a nice improvement overall this season.

@Duke

Been a hard night for the Bears at Cameron Indoor Stadium....double up with 3:47 to play.....at least scoring more in H2....

UCA 20-34=54
Duke 57-48=105

9 Bears scored...…….Bergerson led with 13/4.....Kayouloud next with 9/6....McDaniel and Jones each added 7...shot only 35% while Duke hit 57%....21 TOs did not help....rebs 27 v 46.....Duke had 6 in double figures.....

I'm sure playing Duke
and Baylor is financially
beneficial for the UCA
men's basketball program...
but I can't personally see
how it can help the
mental stability of the
team getting the crap
beat out of them.

Seem to me that scheduling
opponents of similar
talent levels would give
The guys a chance to see some results from their efforts.

You get to stand toe-to-toe with some of the best in the nation, many future NBA stars, and realize that you will survive. If you can play Duke and not die, there's no SLC team to fear.

Foot, I understand where you are coming from, however, for mid major programs to survive financially, they have to schedule games like this. Don't know how much money we get for a game like this, but appears to me we schedule too many of them. Mens college basketball is a money juggernaut and I am sure that a portion of the money made from games like this goes to support other sports at the school.

From my experience it helps to see up close and personal what the elite athletes look like and how they compete....there is nothing like going up against the very best and measuring where you are and if you really want to be at that level to understand where you are versus where you need to get.....we used to go to Tennessee when they were the track power in the south and not just to see the sights in Knoxville.....I got to run one day against one of the top tier college distance runners who had been a US Olympian.....after that I had a pretty clear idea how far I had to go.....I never caught him but I got to All-AIC level and was ready to move up a level when an injury ended my competition career....it can also be pretty humbling for anyone thinking they are Mister Big...…some can get crushed but we are all big boys at the college level and it is up to us not to let that affect us negatively...

I wish we had played a real game against a peer in Game 1 to get into our game rhythm then go play Georgetown.....might had had a different outcome…. if I am G-Town I would never agree to play a UCA in that way....

Besides look what Evansville pulled off at Lexington....

The money also helps!!!

I completely understand the financial side of it, and it's
a great experience for these kids to go and play those teams.

One of you stated after playing Duke there will be no reason to fear
any SLC team...I promise you that none of them feared Duke, but in the
same breath had to know deep down that it would be impossible to win
the game. I can see one game a year like that but not 3 or 4.

But here is the factor that matters most...I don't make the schedule. :D

Well, as you know, the basketball staff does the scheduling, but this is after they find out from the AD how much revenue they need to generate from the "so called" money games. I am not sure how many of these games are "money games" for UCA. What really gets me is that a good chunk of that revenue goes to finance other non-revenue sports, Mens basketball ends up taking a beating for sports that no one really cares about.

That's an accurate statement
