In a real nailbiter finish, the Sugar Bears beat Lamar today in 4 sets to lay sole claim to the SLC East title! :D

After dropping the first set 22-25, the Sugar Bears rebounded and took the next two 25-20 and 25-22 before winning the match in a heart-stopping 31-29 final set.

The Sugar Bears have won 6 in a row to finish with a 12-4 conference record (20-7 overall), tied with Lamar for 2nd place in the SLC behind SLC West and overall champs Texas State (14-2).

Great job by all the ladies throughout the season! Now it's on to Spartanburg, SC, for the NCAA Provisional Invitational next weekend.

Well done Sugar Bears!

I can't believe I never made it out to watch.
I've been saying for years that this program is just going to continue to improve. But I had no idea they would be this close to the top this soon.

I knew we would be really good. I felt this year with the talent we had coming back and the new players making a huge impact, I was confident that we could be better this year. You know what else? They might be even better for the next couple of years. Think of who is coming back then watch the newcomers. We could be looking at a pretty neat run.

They won't be there. Mainly because their season isn't over. They play in a tournament with other transitioning teams in South Carolina this weekend. USC Upstate, North Florida, Presbyterian, NC Central and Winston-Salem State will be at the tourney.

The volleyball team will be in spirit on Saturday. And some more good news. Should the Sugar Bears win the tournament this weekend, they will break last year's winning percentage. They will be honored as early as after Thanksgiving. I wish the team luck this weekend in South Carolina.
