Chloe Smith Named Capital One/Southland Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year
Central Arkansas sophomore middle blocker Chloe Smith was named the Capital One/Southland Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Thursday in conjunction with the release of the All-Academic Volleyball Teams.
The 2008 Player of the Year, Smith is the first UCA student-athlete to claim both awards.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Smith
maintains a 4.0 grade-point average in UCA’s Honors College in digital filmmaking. She led the Sugar Bears to a first-place finish in the East Division and their best conference record (12-4) since joining the Southland in 2006. Smith led UCA in total kills (379) and blocks (80). In conference, she ranked fifth in hitting percentage (.323), third in kills (3.35) and second in service aces per set (0.43). Her 379 kills rank second overall.
