SUGAR BEARS END TITLE SEASON PERFECT IN SOUTHLAND

CONWAY, Ark - The University of Central Arkansas became just the fourth team since 1994 to run the table in Southland Conference play as they defeated Lamar in the season finale on Saturday to go 16-0 in the league. The Sugar Bears (27-3), the 2009 Southland regular season champions, beat the Lady Cardinals (14-13, 9-7) 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 in front of 345 fans at the Prince Center.
UCA completed their most successful season with a .900 winning percentage, breaking the season mark for the third consecutive year. The Sugar Bears also ended the season with a school record 18 sweeps and a 13-0 record at home.
Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Hays paced the UCA offense with a season-high 18 kills and a .419 hitting percentage to go with two aces and seven digs. Williams and junior Chloe Smith had seven kills each. Setter Robyn Smith recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 33 assists and 12 digs.
Robyn Smith ended her career as UCA's career assists leader with 5,148. She is also the only player in Southland history to lead the league in assists for three consecutive seasons.
Williams finished third in school history with 1,192 kills and second in attacks 3,642.
Franklin finished 10th in career kills and had the fifth best single-season hitting percentage at .350.
Chloe Smith set a new school record with 4.46 kills per set this year and tied for the third most kills with 442.
