The Conway Athletic Awards Commission will hold its annual banquet on February 4th. The awards are given each year to Conway sports figures, and this year several Bears will be honored.

UCA graduate and longtime Hendrix basketball coach Cliff Garrison will be presented the 2009 Elijah Pitts Award for career achievement.

UCA volleyball standout Chloe Smith will be presented the 2009 Marvin Delph Award for sportswoman of the year.

Hendrix College outfielder Daniel Ward will be presented the 2009 Marvin Delph Award for sportsman of the year.

Several 8th grade students from Conway schools will also be honored with the annual Marvin Delph Student-Athlete Awards. Delph will be on hand to present these awards.

Proceeds from the banquet will be donated to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in honor of Garrison.

The awards luncheon will be held Thursday, February 4 at UCA’s McCastlain Hall starting at 6:00pm. Tickets are $25. For tickets or more info please contact David Grimes at 450-6888 or davidg@amcins.com.

For those who do not know...Julie Coats is a Conway native who ran fCC/Track for Hendrix and was one of the top female distance runners in the regional and at D3 nationals....UCA would have loved to have her as a SugarBear......great competitor.....

Congrats to Chloe for this year's honor.......
