SUGAR BEARS FACE TOUGH TEST IN TEXASQuote:
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team takes their perfect Southland Conference record on the road this weekend, as they travel to Texas for a pair of tough matches . The Sugar Bears (21-6, 10-0 SLC), winners of 32 consecutive conference matches for the third longest streak in the nation, will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-13, 4-6) on Thursday night and UTSA (15-9, 9-1) on Saturday.
Saturday's match with the Roadrunners features the top teams in each division and could determine the number one seed in the Southland Conference Tournament next month.
UCA is ranked 72nd in this week's NCAA RPI poll.
Junior Jessica Hays is 48 kills away from becoming the fifth Sugar Bear to reach 1,000 career kills. Hays, who also ranks second in the nation in service aces, would join senior Chloe Smith, UCA's career kills leader with 1,555, in the 1,000 kill club.
According to the
RPI, we've already beaten the 2nd highest ranked team in the SLC in TX State(RPI of 144). Of course that was at home, and these games are on the road. TAMU-CC has an RPI of 242, and UTSA has an RPI of 146.
Good Luck Sugarbears!!
