SUGAR BEARS FACE TOUGH TEST IN TEXAS

Quote:
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team takes their perfect Southland Conference record on the road this weekend, as they travel to Texas for a pair of tough matches . The Sugar Bears (21-6, 10-0 SLC), winners of 32 consecutive conference matches for the third longest streak in the nation, will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-13, 4-6) on Thursday night and UTSA (15-9, 9-1) on Saturday.

Saturday's match with the Roadrunners features the top teams in each division and could determine the number one seed in the Southland Conference Tournament next month.

UCA is ranked 72nd in this week's NCAA RPI poll.

Junior Jessica Hays is 48 kills away from becoming the fifth Sugar Bear to reach 1,000 career kills. Hays, who also ranks second in the nation in service aces, would join senior Chloe Smith, UCA's career kills leader with 1,555, in the 1,000 kill club.

According to the RPI, we've already beaten the 2nd highest ranked team in the SLC in TX State(RPI of 144). Of course that was at home, and these games are on the road. TAMU-CC has an RPI of 242, and UTSA has an RPI of 146.

Good Luck Sugarbears!!

Saturday will be the toughest match of the SLC regular season. UTSA struggled with Northwestern St. tonight (won in 5), but they were probably looking ahead. UTSA is very, very talented.

Texas State lost to Sam Houston tonight on the road, which drops them to 7-4 I think, so it should be a two-pony race for the top seed.

SFA is in last place in the West and 10th overall. They were dominant just a few years ago.

UTSA survived Northwestern State tonight 3-2 (in San Antonio). I also noticed UTSA lost to TCU earlier in the season 0-3.

Great win for the Sugar Bears tonight! Going to Corpus Christi is never easy, but they took care of business. 33 in a row in conference is amazing. San Antonio is a great team. It will not be an easy task, but it should be an incredible match. Reminder after Saturday, the final two home matches of 2010 happen next week against Lamar and McNeese. So if you have not been to one, you need to go.

Nice road win, we all need to be behind the Sugarbears as they take on San Antinio.
Go Sugarbears!

I guess there's no chance that game gets moved up to noon o'clock?
We'll have to pack up the tailgate stuff early so we can head over there for the first set before football.

It's in San Antonio...may need to start packing a little earlier than that!

Weird, when I read his comment I swear it said something about being at home.
And yes, I knew the topic was "Volleyball in Texas."

No excuse I guess.

I may be wrong, but with 5 games left in the regular season, we have already locked up at least a share of the SLC Eastern Division Title with Lamar (6-5, as we still play them one more time), and a win @ UTSA tomorrow will give us the outright SLC Eastern Division Title...and put us one step closer to the #1 seed in the SLC Tournament and another undefeated season in the SLC!!!
