HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team will open their first ever Southland Conference Tournament as the top seed and will face eighth-seeded Nicholls in the opening round. The Sugar Bears (26-7, 15-1 SLC) and the Colonels (14-15, 6-10) will play on Friday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. in Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville, Texas.
If UCA wins, they will face the winner between #4 UT Arlington (16-14, 10-6) and host #5 Sam Houston State (15-16, 9-7) on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The tournament finals will be on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. and be televised on Southland-TV (KARZ-42 in central Arkansas, channel 9 on Conway Corporation). Each match of the 2010 tournament will be streamed live for free on SLC Now.
The Sugar Bears, under sixth-year head coach Steven McRoberts, claimed their second consecutive regular season title this year. UCA has gone 31-1 in Southland play during the title runs.
This is the first season Central Arkansas has been eligible for postseason play, having completed the four-year NCAA Division I probation period.
Ticket prices for a day session are $10 for an adult and $7 for youths (age 3-18). Tournament passes are $15. There is no charge for Southland Conference students with a vaild institutional I.D.
