Well, it is obvious that the reputation Kris Peterson worked so halfheartedly to achieve has carried over to the Southland.

I, for one, am looking forward to volleyball getting started up. It's a weeknight sports fix during football season - since I can't make it to soccer's afternoon games.

Year two got a lot more difficult for Coach with the move up (like all the coaches I suppose). But there's no doubt the team improved quite a bit during the course of last season.

I don't understand. How did volleyball get voted on in a Preseason poll (not a slap to v-ball), but football didn't get mentioned in their poll. I realize that we aren't playing a full schedule, but if I have read everything correctly, the volleyball team in no closer to being fully division I than football. Someone please shed some light my way.

Phil

If I counted correctly, there are 16 conference opponents.
That's two more than last year's GSC schedule.

Your right on the money...

Volleyball, soccer, basketball, etc play full schedules and the games count towards the standings. Football is a "different beast" where you do not play the SLC's full slate of games, your technically in the "transition year" and therefore, the games do not count towards the standings, so why place a team in the poll?

Football has different rules and procedures compared to the other Div I sports...
