Congrats Sugar Bears! Way to represent the SLC. Weak tournament with two SWAC schools and Centenary, which is extremely weak, but you guys did beat a good Tulsa team...so you get props for that!

FRISCO, Texas - The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team capped off a perfect weekend by posting a pair of wins at the Econo Lodge Centenary Classic on Saturday. The Sugar Bears (4-3) defeated the host Ladies (1-5) 30-14, 30-22, 30-22 and Jackson State (0-4) 30-12, 30-26, 30-25. It was the first tournament sweep for UCA since the Montevallo/Coca-Cola Classic in October of 2004. Freshman setter Robyn Smith was named the tournament's MVP and sophomore middle blocker Camila Scapini earned all-tournament team honors.

The Sugar Bears outhit Centenary .244 to .063 for the match. Freshman Amicha Williams led UCA with 10 kills and hit .320. Senior Tristen McNeal hit .389 with eight kills and senior Rachel Copley added seven. Senior libero Brianna LaBrot came up with 17 digs and sophomore Tassia Pavilhao had 11 digs and was responsible for four of UCA's 12 service aces.

Against JSU, freshman Evaree Franklin led the way with 15 kills. Willimas posted 12 kills and Scapini had 11 to go with a .529 hitting percentage. Smith recored 48 assists and led the defense with eight digs.

UCA had a 58-28 kills advantage over the Lady Tigers and hit a season-best .298 as a team.

considering it's our first year of D1 competition and our coach is only in his 2nd year I believe, I'd say we are doing quite well, no matter how weak the competition was in that tournament.

I can't wait until they finally get to play a home game. I was able to make it out to a few last year and they really were pretty exciting. Good crowds and very loud in the Prince Center.

After starting off 0-3 it is good to see the team jump up to 4-3 after 4 straight wins!!

This team has come a long way since the 2004 season. Like soccer, this could eventually be another strong sport that deserves more attention. Hopefully the crowds (for all sports really), specifically students, will continue to grow.

UCA is playing in the much weaker SLC East division as it relates to volleyball. It would not surprise me to see UCA competing within the division and potentially be ready for some division titles within a year or few...

The first Home Match is 9-20-06...there is a one o'clock match and then the evening match, which is against ASU!!! The Prince center should be standing room only.

That's a whooping! Good job Sugar Bears!

MOREHEAD, Ky.- The Central Arkansas volleyball team posted its fifth straight win as they defeated Air Force 30-27, 30-14, 30-17 in the opener of the Comfort Inn Invitational, hosted by Morehead State. The Sugar Bears (5-3) have dropped just one game during their win streak. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 1-5.

I'll say it again - this sports has the chance to be something special at UCA.
Coach McRoberts has helped take this team to another level, and he did it quickly.

The Team plays again twice today, vs. host Morehead St. and then against Western Carolina.

The Sugar Bears lost to a good Morehead St., and then won in five against a good Western Carolina team. I can't wait until they come to Conway in Nov. Prince will be packed :)
