This weekend is last home series and a big weekend for Bears to make a move. Bears finish with UTSA on road the next weekend. Beginning to look like it will take at least 15 wins to get into tourney. Bears own tie-breaker over NSU but not over McNeese.

BEARS TO HOST FINAL HOME SERIES

CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears baseball team will close out its home schedule with a weekend series against one of the top teams in the Southland Conference in the Sam Houston State Bearkats.

The series gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday at Bear Stadium. Game 2 is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, while "Senior Day" will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Bearkats (33-17, 16-11) are in third place in the SLC, while the Bears (21-26, 10-17) are in 11th place. However, the Bears swept the three-game series a year ago on the road in Huntsville, Texas. UCA is coming off an 11-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday, a game in which the Bears pounded out 17 hits...

SELA now owns the tiebreaker with SFA after two wins this weekend. Should SELA sweep and UCA win on Sunday, the Lions move into 2nd place alone. The big fight now is between LU, UTA and UTSA each at 13-16. The Bears are probably down to having to win out to have any chance at the tourney. They certainly can have an impact with the finale at UTSA next weekend.

I know it was on the road, but we really needed to win the series in Natchitoches.

After winning a couple, losing the three series to UTA, Corpus (sweep) and NW State really hurt us.

Instead, we need a sweep at UTSA and Texas State to win the series against UTA.

I concur with Trey on the scenario. If we only win two games against UTSA, we need to hope for a three-way tie with Nicholls involved. We are the only team to win the series against Texas State, so we have that in our favor.

Why was Angus still in the game with pitch 145 when he gave up the LONG HR?

Good question. He even pitched to two more guys after the homer.
Plucheck was 0-for-3 against him before that at bat. But Angus had - as you said - already thrown a ton of pitches and walked the two guys that were already on base.
