Super excited about this team!

It appears we have the pitchers...let's hope the bats follow! =D>

We're returning 4 of our 5 top hitters. Tanner Wiley is gone to graduation.

Man I hope the rain doesn't slow up the first game!

Missouri State @ UCA

Game 3:

MSU 2-7-1 (2-1)
UCA 5-10-0 (1-2)

https://ucasports.com/news/2020/2/16/baseball-four-run-inning-carries-bears-to-5-2-win.aspx

https://ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=baseball&id=4223

Potvin, who missed the entire 2019 season with a medical issue, finished 2 for 5 with 3 runs batted in, while Ayala was 3 for 4 and designated hitter Cole Fiori went 2 for 3. Moyer/Verel/Williams combine for the win with 8ks.

Bears get Memphis at Bear Field on Tuesday then off next week to Hattiesburg for 3 with Southern Miss and end up with a return game at Memphis.

Game 2:

MSU 6-10-0 (2-0)
UCA 2-8-3 (0-2)

Hard to win with 3 errors and giving up 3 HRs.….was the wind blowing out today? Noah Cameron did pitch well over 6 IP giving up 1R, 5H and 5Ks.....at least we used the bats more today as 2B Ben Ayala goes 2/4 with a solo HR.....

Hope they put pitching and hitting together on Sunday...Go Bears!!

Game 1:

MSU 1-8-1
UCA 0-5-0

Pitchers duel on a cold day....left bases loaded in 9th.....try again tomorrow

Bears@Southern Miss

Game 3:

UCA 6-12-0 (3-4)
USM 8-10-1 (6-1)

Even winning only one, the trip showed Bears can play ball...…..USM is one of the favorites in C-USA.....

"The Bears (3-4) scored twice in the seventh inning and again in the eighth but could not quite come all the way back from an 8-3 deficit. UCA out-hit Southern Miss 12-10 with senior catcher Beau Orlando going 3 for 3 and junior right fielder Connor Emmet going 3 for 4. Senior first baseman Coby Potvin had a team-high three runs batted in and sophomore designated hitter Hunter Hicks added two more."

Game 2:

UCA 4-7-1 (3-3)
USM 5-10-1, 10 innings

"Golden Eagles get RBI single in bottom of 10th for 5-4 win that evens the series. Josh Ragan goes 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, including a 2-run HR for UCA"

@Memphis

UCA 5-10-3 (3-5)
UM 8-12-1 (5-3)

https://ucasports.com/news/2020/2/25/baseball-memphis-downs-uca-8-5-to-even-season-series.aspx

Guess 2-3 for the games vs Memphis and USM should encouraging.....competitive in all...…..road trip may have affected tonight's play...…Bears pitchers rang up 8 Tigers but then UCA batters whiffed 16x.....hard to advance runners with Ks....Hicks and Ragan each had a double and Ayala a HR....weekend series at home vs SIU-Edwardsville…..

"The Bears used four pitchers, with sophomore righthander Tyler Cleveland finishing off the game with five strikeouts in three perfect innings or work. Hicks, a sophomore from Sheridan from Sheridan, Ark., went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Ragan had a pair of RBIs and Emmet went 2 for 3."

SIU-Edwardsville@UCA

Game 2:

SIUE 3-8-0 (5-4)
UCA 2-10-0 (4-6)

Both teams pitched very well...…...combined 20Ks abut ZERO BBs....Noah Cameron gets loss in 8 IP giving up 3 runs and 8 hits with 9Ks......should have been good enough for a win.....plenty of hits but Bears just could not them across home....need to take Sunday game....

Game 1:

SIUE 6-11-3 (4-4)
UCA 9-11-2 (4-5)

Gavin Stone had a solid outing giving up 3 R and 7 hits in 6IP....Brad Verel was roughed up for 3 runs in .2 IP....Conner Williams finished with stellar scoreless, hitless 2.1 IP with 5Ks....Connor Emmet went 3/4 with a triple and 2 runs..the teams had 24Ks.....

No-no for Gavin stone last night. 6-7 on the year, and I really thought we’d have a better mark at this point but couldn’t get some timely hits in some tough games. Southern miss, mo st and vandy is an extremely tough slate, but I believe once Gum gets the bullpen figured out, this team can make a run

SLU@UCA

Game 3:

SLU 7-11-1 (1-2)
UCA 3-8-2 (2-1)

Moyer kept the pitching going well giving up only 1 ER in 5.2 IP.....Lions figured out bullpen in 9th with 5 runs....ugh....still a good start to SLC season....Bears get UTM at Bear Field on Tuesday before heading off to Nicholls for the weekend series...Go Bears!!

Game 2:
SLU 1-6-0 (0-2)
UCA 2-8-0 (2-0)

Another terrific pitching game by both teams....Noah Cameron goes 7 IP to get the win with 1 run, 6 hits, 1 BB and 10Ks....Conner Williams gets the save with 2 IP of no hit shutoff effort....Bears had 10 LOB....3 doubles.....Beau Orlando goes 3/4 with a run and a rbi….

Game 1:
SLU 0-0-0 (0-1)
UCA 2-3-1 (1-0)

What an outing by Gavin Stone.....a no-no with only 1 BB and 13 Ks....pitching for both teams superb....Ben Ayala tags a HR in 6th for the GWRBI....

STONE'S NO-HITTER EARNS SOUTHLAND HONOR

PS...without checking a map who out there knows where Lake City is? Always amazing how such talent comes out of small towns in Arkansas but gets so little attention....

UTM@UCA

https://ucasports.com/news/2020/3/10/baseball-brasher-bears-down-skyhawks-5-3.aspx

UTM 3-6-1 (5-11)
UCA 5-7-1 (8-8)

"Senior shortstop Christian Brasher went 2 for 4 with 3 runs batted in, including a go-ahead, two-run double down the left-field line in the sixth inning. The third run of the inning came in on a fielder's choice by senior catcher Nathaniel Sagdahl to make it a 4-2 Bears' lead.

Senior left-handed reliever Brad Verel did the rest, striking out seven over the final 3 1/3 innings to earn the victory in relief of junior starter Logan Gilbertson. Gilbertson struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and two runs."

Southland Suspends Spring Sports Competition
3/12/2020 1:16:17 PM

KATY, TX – Taking precautions due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Southland Conference has announced it is suspending all spring sports competition effective immediately and through March 30.

This includes all conference and non-conference contests for the Southland’s spring sports. Practices are still up to each institution, including spring football. Conference and campus administrators will convene in the coming weeks to determine exact return-to-competition arrangements and other issues.

Earlier today, the Southland cancelled its 2020 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments.
