Pregame is now on the air.
I hadn't thought about it until now, but it doesn't look like we have live stats for baseball.

SteveO sent me a text message a few minutes ago and said that the Bears scored three in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 5-4.

I couldn't get my computer to load ucasports when I got home, so I couldn't get to the listen live link and don't know how it happened. But apparently it was good.

A pretty impressive performance by Matt Humphrey to come in down 3-0 and hold it down where we had a chance in the end. Hopefully he can keep that up.

Humphrey not only held us in the game, he dominated them! That was impressive what he did to them. He is going to be our innings eater it looks like. And if he can keep that up, he'll eat a lot of them up.

Pretty clean game up until they brought in their bullpen. Their pen walked 4, their closer 3 in the 9th. They committed 3 errors, TWICE they dropped foul balls that would have been what you would think easy outs, only to get burned the next pitch or so. One was during Cline's HR at bat, he was out the pitch before but the 1B over ran the ball, it popped out of his glove and the rest is history. Dunn & Humprhrey combined to walk no one, and strike out a combined 10.

Cline had the big game, only UCA batter with 2 hits...HR, 2 RBI's, got on base three times, scored 2 runs (game winner) Kent Taylor had the pinch-hit 2 run game winning single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded to win it for the Bears!

Whitaker in Game 1 tomorrow at noon. Pregame at 11:50 on The BEar 91.3 and UCAsports.com.

REMINDER: We will only broadcast Game 1 tomorrow, and NOT game 2. And Then we'll broadcast the Series Finale on Sunday, first pitch at noon again, pregame at 11:50...

Sounds like a combination of keeping after it , good relief pitching and some gifts from the guests....still counts as win...is this the first win in any sport ever over the Jacks???

I'm not sure necessarily I'm qualified to say if he throws hard enough or not. I know he is a competitor and had a lot of K's at UAFS compared to his innings pitched. Coach Goodwin talked about his deception and his motion. But I do know that at this point in the season his role wil lbe to eat up innings, and if he keeps up the rest of the season, what he did yesterday, we're going to be quite alright.
---------------------------------------------------

I obviously was not at the 2nd game, but great to hear the bats came alive and got some runs. Also I did catch a glimps of the box score, It would appear the bullpen had another outstanding effort in the 2nd game of the DH. Without seeing the game, it appeared that even Brewer came back and pitched very well by the numbers. I'm ecstatic we have won 2 of the first 3, and a strong case we should be up 3-0. Not sure who is going in the game tomorrow, but I kind of like our chances to take 3 or 4, especially if we can keep capitalizing on their miscues.

BEARS SPLIT WITH JACKRABBITS
BASEBALL • Feb 23, 2008

CONWAY, Ark - The University of Central Arkansas baseball team split a pair of games with South Dakota State on Saturday afternoon at UCA Field. The Jackrabbits (1-2) took the first game 3-2 in seven innings, before the Bears (2-1) bounced back for a 12-3 victory in the night cap. The Bears pounded out 10 hits in game two.

UCA started the day with a 1-0 lead in the first inning when junior third baseman Jonathan Yerby singled in junior second baseman Graham Martin. SDSU tied the game in the top of the third when first Tyson Fisher drove in Korby Mintken with a double down the left field line...

We won game 4 5-3.
Cline hit his second homer of the season. I'm pretty sure that he only had two all last year.

Pritchett got the start and the win, and true freshman Reece Cross came in and got the save. 2 innings of zero hit ball.
