Cross looked good in his first appearance. Got us out of a jam in the 8th for sure!

Cline is mashing right now, as is Graham Martin too, and Kent Taylor. It was a great weekend in my mind, 1 hit away from sweeping the series against a program that won 34 D1 games last year, beat Creighton @ Creighton last year among other schools... The Bullpen for the most part really came through all weekend long. And we did a good job capitalizing on their mistakes for the most part.

The lights look and work great. And it was good to watch baseball again in person!

Wife and I and Beagle Bear was driving back in from La. and was able to pick up the game on the radio a few miles south of Little Rock. Sounded like a decent crowd, or maybe everyone was just sitting close to the announcer guy. Did hear the announcer guy talking bad about the new light poles - said he couldn't see the bullpen area down the right field line. Here's an  , move your chair over.

Seriously, good job Steve-o. Congrats to the team for their 3 out of 4 series. You guys save me a seat for next weekend!

Good series, but I froze my large tail off on Saturday. BF, did you have the heat cranked up behind the glass? Had to do taxes on Sunday. Ouch.

CLINE, BEARS TAKE SERIES
BASEBALL • Feb 24, 2008

CONWAY, Ark _ Senior center fielder Scott Cline homered for the second time this season Sunday in leading the University of Central Arkansas Bears to a 5-3 victory over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at UCA Field.

The Bears took the series 3-1 after winning on Friday and splitting a doubleheader on Saturday. Cline, a senior from Clarksville, went 2 for 3 with a three-run home run in the sixth inning and added another RBI in the fourth inning. He is hitting .500 through the first four games of the 2008 season...

I think you guys need to do like the Cubs do, or did, and announce a game from the bleachers with the crowd surrounding you.

Great start to the season 3-1. I feel very confident that the baseball team will have a very decent and respectable year. This weekend is the Battle of the Bears against Missouri State. Great thing is the series is here in Conway. Looking forward to it.

I didn't see the games, but offensively it'd be hard not to give it to Cline.

He was:
6-for-12 - 2nd on team
2 HR - 1st
8 RBI - 1st
SLG% 1.000 - 1st
OB% .533 - 2nd

despite the hitting of Cline, Kent Taylor and Graham Martin, I really have to think our pitching is what carried the series, the bullpen especially! If the pitching holds up the rest of the year, and you get Jeremy Cloud back in the next month, this could shape up to be a pretty good year, obviously a great start no doubt.

True the offense has to do a better job of stringing together more hits especially in clutch situations. Left way too many runners stranded. Pitching is usually way ahead of hitting this year but they've got to find a way to score runs when they have the opportunity. Great start!
