I don't follow baseball that much, so why did they only play 7 innings? Is it because they play a double header today?

College baseball rules are quite complicated and football fans probably cannot follow.....it has to do with study hours and travel costs plus the need to rest umpires and tradition (which is the core of all baseball) and, of course, the impact of longer games on global warning when lights have to be used. Furthermore, players can only play so many minutes of competition each week under the NCAA's "Student-Athlete First" rule.

Actually, it has been that way for a long time with double headers.....probably has to do with the impact on pitchers.....
