Last fling of the season.....regardless of outcome this weekend everyone should be proud of the ball team this year...much improved plus wins over TWO Top 10 teams on the road.....I think the Bears have shown they can compete in the SLC and no one takes them for granted......

Now a look at the Demons....

27-24/16-10 SLC ...... 7-4 in SLC on road with 2 game win streak

Major Wins...

Took 2 of 3 from SLC/East leader Lamar this past weekend
Beat La Tech 7-1 last week at home (another school that plays in-state rivals on the road)
3 game sweeps of Eastern Illinois, TAMCC, Nicholls, Sam Houston State

Notable Losses:

Lost 2 at Ole Miss by 15-4 and 14-1
Lost 2 to Tulane on road by 4-3 and 18-11
Lost to LSU at BR by 10-3
Lost to Centenary on road by 8-7 (won earlier by 3-0)
Lost to La Tech 12-10 at Ruston
Lost to McNeese 5-3 at home
Lost to UTA by 18-3 at home
Lost home and home with Lafayette
Split with Monroe...lost at home

Batting:
.285 with 39 HRs
374 K vs 217 BBs
.404 slugging % and .377 OB %

Mike Jaworski .355 15 HRs/46 RBIs, 13 of 17 SBs
Justin O'Neal .344 3/36, 6 of 10
Anthony Jones .339 5/36, 7 of 10
Chase Lyle .309 4/26, 20 of 23

All have double digit 2Bs

Jordan Nipp bats .299 with 15 of 17 SBs

Fielding:
.955
89 errors
39 DPs

Pitching:
5.15 era
337 Ks v 153 BBs and 65 HBP

Jimmy Heard, 6-4, 3.81, 62 Ks v 13 BBs v 15 HBP, .263, 9HRs
Clayton Cooper, 5-3, 4.06, 44 v 16 v9, .247, 1
Heath Hennigan, 3-3, 4.15, 72 v 19 v 8, .270, 5

SUMMARY:

Demons at 16-10 could still win SLC/East but that likely requires a sweep as Lamar (17-10) is at home v McNeese.

Currently 4th seed for tourney which would put them in bracket with SLC/West leader UTSA...not good.... winning East probably makes them #2 seed and in separate bracket....MORAL of STORY = lots to play for

Demons need to win one to assure winning season.

Have yielded 10 or more runs 10x and 5x in SLC play.

Solid Top 3 starters.....relief is suspect.....

Good hitters with power and SBs ability...however, Ks avg 7-8 per game which is an opportunity for UCA pitchers....

Fielding a bit suspect......

NOTE: If UCA were eligible for tourney, we would be playing for spot as we are 5th best winning % after the two division leaders....we would have to sweep and UTA or SELA would need to stumble....

Should be good games this weekend with a chance to do some great things with solid effort....little room for error....Bears road wins over Ole Miss and Wichita State show what is possible....

Ok. I saw the play at 3rd but not what proceeded it. Did we miss a stop sign or was it put up too late? Anyone know.

I saw Kevin slip/fall I think he was trying to hold up from going home and he just fell. The rest was history. Last night stunk. We'll get even tonight

Looks like Bears at 13-16-1 in SLC play is 1/2 game from making SLC tourney (if we were eligible)........looks like TAMCC goes as 8th team.
