FRISCO, Texas – UTSA outfielder Jose Hernandez has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week and Central Arkansas right hander Jeremy Cloud has been named the Southland Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday...

Cloud was one pitch away from a perfect game in Central Arkansas’ Southland opener at Stephen F. Austin, a 9-0 victory. It was the first career shutout for the senior from North Little Rock Ark., and product of North Little Rock High School. He allowed a bloop single in the fifth inning, then erased that with a double play. He struck out five and walked none, while going to a two-ball count four times in the game. Cloud is now 2-0 on the year after the first shutout for the Bears since joining the Southland Conference. The Bears’ pitching staff put together a 29-inning scoreless streak....

CLOUD RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD

CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas righthanded pitcher Jeremy Cloud was named to the College Baseball Foundation/Diamond Sports weekly National All-Star Lineup on Tuesday.

Cloud, a senior from North Little Rock, threw a one-hitter against Stephen F. Austin last Friday, missing a perfect game by one pitch. He allowed a bloop single in the fifth inning, then erased that runner with a double play. Cloud faced the minimum 27 batters, striking out five and walking none in improving to 2-0 on the season.

Cloud was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday...
