I think Throneberry was buried a bit last year behind all of the upperclassmen outfielders. I think he was primarily a lefty/righty matchup that rotated with Rawls in left field depending on the opposing pitcher.

Throneberry's numbers are better than both Dickson and Huffman's (well, pretty much everyone's).

What about this top 5:
Dickson
Huffman
Throneberry
Yerby
Smith

I guess the problem there is the 6-9 spots are filled with people hitting around or below .250.

yeah, if you did it like that, you'd have a huge 'hole' for a lack of a better term, unitl the bottom 3rd or so heated up. DC loves offense, and he likes a balanced order, too. So I'm not sure he would completely stack the lineup like that. Dont forget Bobby is hitting fairly well at this point too. And I fully expect Tenney to get hot at any point. At that point the O will pick up even more, and if we keep pitching well, this still has the setup of a very nice season.

OK. How much longer before Tye gets moved to the top of the order to get an extra AB each game.

He
leads the team in BA and OBP.
is 4th in slugging.
has just 6 Ks.
is second in RBIs.

I'm obviously not a coach, and I do understand the value of having a "second leadoff guy" batting in the 9 spot. And maybe he prefers batting at the bottom of the lineup. But he's started and played 16 of 17 games, and he has double-digit fewer at bats than the top of the lineup (which is also hitting well).

Maybe I'm just pulling for my White Hall/Pine Bluff area players more than others...

You always want your hottest hitters getting more at bats. DC will have confidence to move him to the top of the lineup if he continues to light it up. Some coaches like to reserve the bottom of their lineup for players struggling because they tend to see better pitches to help them rebound.

Bottom of the third, who gets the team's first (and only to this point) hit?

Yep.

They did.
We made a big comeback, but we still came up 2 runs short, 13-11.
Too many walks from what it sounded like.

Something about this sounds slightly homoerotic.

Wrong. Word is that "the Lions are a bunch of girls." - ERod

There could be a bunch of Beions running round soon though.

Is that anything like a Liger? it's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed. Bred for it's skills in magic.

BEARS' RALLY FALLS SHORT IN 13-11 LOSS
BASEBALL • Mar 18, 2009

CONWAY, Ark _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears rallied with two three-run home runs in the eighth inning Wednesday but it was not enough in a 13-11 loss to Murray State at Bear Stadium.

UCA (11-7), down 9-0 early and 13-5 through seven innings, got three-run shots from junior Tye Throneberry and senior Richey Irvin and scored six runs in the eighth. But MSU’s ace Daniel Calhoun came on in the ninth and got the Bears out in order for his first save of the season...
