Anybody know where we can buy one of those CA hats? The bookstore has all kinds of them but none of them have the "CA" intertwined in purple. I've seen the baseball players wearing them in the past so I assume the team designed them and they're only for team use, but they look pretty sharp and I would love to buy one!

UCA loses 4-3 on a double by ORU that allowed a runner on first to make it all the way home.

Cox was almost perfect (one hit batter) through two innings.
Unfortunately, he started off the 10th with another hit batter. Sowers followed that up with his only hit of the day. It's not that difficult to score from first when the ball is hit to left (or right) and the fielder dives and misses.

Don't know if it was called (I assume that it was), but the Bears had it set up to take the lead in the 9th with runners on second and third after Tye sac bunted them over. Totally agree with the call, but it doesn't work out when the next two strike out and ground out. But that's how it goes.

We were close. On to Nevada.

Sounds like a good game...Not sure what level team ORU has this year but usually they give OU,OSU and Arkansas fits.

Hope the guys gets some wins on the ballfield in Nevada.

Bears are hitting well.

Control problems (walks and HBP's) are killing us!!!!

Agreed. The walks really aren't that bad. We're sitting at a 57:26 k:bb ratio.
The problem is when you mix in the TWENTY ONE (21) hit batters.

I'm all for throwing inside, but we're going a couple inches too far inside.

To compare, our hitters have been hit just FIVE (5) times.

Free passes and giving up almost two steals per game almost always equals runs in college baseball. (like you didn't know)

Opponents batting average = .266

UCA batting average = .321

There may be some correlation here, although I do agree with you that hitting three per game is a bit excessive. From what I have seen, UCA is allowing the opponent's leadoff hitter on base too frequently. In addition, there has seemingly been a fairly high number of hits with two strikes.

All in all, the ballclub looks pretty good for this early in the season. Lots of doubles hitters in the lineup which tends to keep rallies going.

UncleEthan is right. There is a 55 point difference in batting average, but only 8 points in obp. (.388 -.380).

You got to be pretty pleased so far. The offense has been much better than to be expected with only 3 returning starters from last year's squad.

The pitching has a lot of experience and they'll come around.
