Why are you clapping?

Again, we were one pitch away from winning the series.
Unfortunately, they were one pitch away from winning it too, and they took that one pitch and placed it neatly over the fence.

no doubt, I think anyone at the games or listening in know we were so close to winning another series. BUT... we obviously didnt.

I dont see where clapping about losing helps anything, but that's just me...

saying nothing at all, or not posting an icon at all is sometimes suffice.

Obviously Reece Cross is not his old self and that is a big factor in our many close games...not having him to give lots of good innings hurts. Hope he gets back on track. While the record does not show it, we are capable of winning most series...just have to figure out how to get over the hump. Just got to keep workng.

As a long time Bear fan told me, most people are either fans of the Bears (insert your favorite team) or just fans of winning. As long as the coaches and players are working and trying to improve, I will support them..winning or not. Basically, the coaches and athletes need to want to win more than do I or else something is bad wrong.

Back to baseball, we are not yet there to be at top of SLC but we play with most teams well and are capable of beating most. One relief pitcher and maybe a few hits away from a much different season.

McCollum's column: Some leftover tidbits from Goose Gossage visit to UCA
Posted: May 4, 2010 - 10:33pm
By David McCollum

Many people who encountered baseball Hall of Famer Goose Gossage last weekend came away refreshed and delighted.

Gossage, who spent 22 years in the majors for 10 teams, came to Conway to help with fundraisers for the University of Central Arkansas baseball program. He’s been a longtime friend of UCA baseball coach Doug Clark and one of his three sons, Todd, played at UCA.

Gossage, who spends some of his time as a motivational speaker for various organizations, went to a variety of events, signed a lot of autographs on everything from books to jerseys to balls to camps and shook a lot of hands...

I count 10-12 games that were close where a strong reliever might have made the difference. Win most of those and we are close to 500. That does not cure all ills but it would be considerably different season.

Again...no pitching coach on a Div.1 baseball program; the AD should do something about this. Check out the pitching stats. As far as Reese Cross...thats all you get...didn't even play summer ball.
