joshuca,
Any idea what time we will hear today? I just checked the UCA website and there is no info about any sort of press conference scheduled for today.

Press Conference at 4:30

It seems our press conferences usually happen mid-to-late afternoon. I'd expect 4 or 4:30.

Hopefully a news camera or two will show up.

I think we're in a weird situation where we'd of course like to hire someone with D1 experience, but we aren't/weren't likely to have the funds to do that. I'd expect it to be a D2 coach, and my money this whole time would have been on Gum.

That stuff's on Facebook, too. You have no excuse, big guy.

Well ... unless your excuse is "Facebook and Twitter and YouTube and PornStash and all that are blocked at my workplace. And I am at work." Then maybe you've got something - but still, that stuff can be accessed via phones and such. Get with the times, Gramps.

My phone is one step away from a 1999 release. Contract expires in November though.
Facebook is blocked here, but I'm awesome enough to have been given access - you know, for work reasons.I remember to check Twitter every few days or weeks and catch up a few days at a time. But, I very rarely get on Facebook at all.

I just expect Josh or 101 or someone to report everything here, so why bother doing the research myself.

This last team had FOUR guys drafted.
Of course Simpson steals all the headlines though (rightfully so).

Southern Arkansas University MLB Amateur Draft Picks

Year, Round, Overall Pick, Team, Player, Position
2010, 1, 16, Cubs, Hayden Simpson, RHP
2010, 33, 989, Royals, Cole Lohden, RHP
2010, 33, 991, Diamondbacks, Andrew Whittington, SS
2010, 48, 1464, Angels, Chad Yinger, RHP
2009, 33, 1004, Mets, James Schroeder, 3B
2009, 42, 1269, Cardinals, Aaron Terry, RHP
2007, 18, 572, Twins, Lee Martin, RHP
2006, 31, 934, Mets, Jeremy Hambrice, OF
2004, 10, 295, Royals, Bobby Beeson, LHP
2003, 22, 651, Reds, Brian Barr, RHP
2002, 28, 852, Cardinals, Melvin Falu, 2B
1995, 47, 1304, Indians, Sammie Mathis, RHP
1994, 44, 1204, Mets, Sammie Mathis, RHP
1994, 75, 166o, Marlins, Tyler Nicol, OF
1993, 86, 1711, Marlins, Stephen Haggard, RHP
1992, 37, 1035, Cardinals, Trey Ritz, SS
1991, 16, 424, Indians, Rodney Koller, RHP
1988, 18, 448, Padres, Joe Murdock, LHP
1988, 39, 997, Orioles, Bob Block, OF
1987, 37, 950, Reds, Keith Beam, OF
1985, 3, 70, Phillies, Vince Holyfield, OF
1980, 16, 392, Braves, Dale Weaver , SS
*1976, 1, January Draft, 2, Astros, Gary Wilson, RHP

Compare that with our Division I program:
2008, 35, 1068 Diamondbacks, Chris Davis
2006, 26, 785, Marlins, Andy Jackson
1996, 27, 788, Cardinals, Greg Montgomery
1995, 13, 355, Giants, Phillip Bailey
1992, 11, 303, Cubs, Kevin Booker
1992, 2, 67, Angels, Marquis Riley
1988, 42, 1069, Padres, Jeff Hart
1984, 16, 408 Royals, Rusty Rogers
1982, 22, 550, Mets, Wes Gardner
1976, 1, 17, Royals, Steve Beene
1967, 7, 135, Giants, Jack Fulmer

So, in the five years Gum has been as SAU, we've had two guys drafted. SAU has had eight (and 11 in the last decade compared to our same two). It's much easier to win if you have good talent on the field.

I think he's 40 (or so depending on what the actual date is) based on when he graduated and everything in the bio.

So, if you chose the over you win. Unfortunately, I took under assuming that Gum was not yet 40 years old. Should have done the math earlier.

Second Change nailed it though.
