Just a reminder to everyone. They came in next-to-last in 2011. Don't get me wrong. I expect them to improve, but it's not like this should come as a huge surprise.
(Oh, and someone had already posted this on the home page as well.)

Lamar was picked 5/6 in preseason polls with Bears last. A 3-0 start for Bears over Lamar is pretty notable.

Notable yes. But baseball is a slow marathon. 4 seasons ago in 2009 we started off 4-0 after a sweep @ SFA and a win against Lamar. It quickly spiraled after that and finished 10-21 in SLC play my recollection is correct...
That said, I do think a) we are better than 2009, and b ) we are playing/pitching better right now than back then as well. But in baseball, only time will tell. But yes, it was great to be dominate against a normal traditional power to open up the SLC play this weekend.

Agreed... baseball is a unique challenge on a daily basis. Fortunes can turn at a moments notice (2011 Atlanta Braves) It's a long season, but I think the BEARS have started to turn the corner a little bit. I look for them to be at the .500 level for the conf. season. I believe we were 13-21 in the conf. in 2011. This team has shown steady improvement the past two years. Alan Gum is a proven coach...and it's good to see a large number of Arkansas kids on the roster (20) out of 35 total. Bear Baseball is on the rise.
