Ive been delinquent, my bad!

What a great foundation that's been laid for this program. From being picked dead last in the preseason to finishing tied for 6th in the SLC, and making the SLC Tournament for the 1st time in a year year where others' expectations were low for us. Im very pleased with this season, esp. when you consider we spent the 1st part of our SLC schedule without 1 of our top arms (Steinmetz) and the last several weeks without both JD and Kraig Kelley our starting SS. With wins over the Big 12 Tournament and SEC Tournament Champs in our back pocket, this was a pretty good year overall. The coaches are out on the road already back on the recruiting trail. Or they will be soon at least, Idk which, you get the point! We lose 6 seniors. The future is getting brighter by the day around this program!

Some of these numbers may not look impressive, but remember where we are coming from and the fact we were picked dead last in preseason:

25-30 overall (+1 win over '11) 16-17 in SLC 6th (+3 wins from '11)

+5 positions (I think) in the SLC standings, 1st SLC Tournament appearance!

7 NCAA Tournament Tournaments Opponents: (3-12) 1-5 Home; 2-7 Road
Creighton 0-3
@ Oral Roberts 0-1
@ Mizzou 1-1
@ UT Arlington 0-3
@ Ole Miss 0-2
@ Mississippi State 1-0
Sam Houston State 1-2
Overall Record against: 3 – 12

2 legit Bubble Teams: (2-2)
@ Southeastern La. 2-1
@ Texas 0-1

Plus a Fall DH split vs. NCAA team: TCU 1-1

*Only 4 teams beat both SEC & Big12 Tourney champs this year: UCA, Arkansas, Auburn & Memphis

* 7-17 Road games overall, but 5 of the 7 came against this group of opponents.

So as you can see, we have improvements to be made, but we are also very well on the right track with the schedule we play. The SLC was a 2 bid league (2.5 if you count ORU), this is no weak conference in baseball. The improvements were noticeable this year, respect from across the SLC was definitely earned, now we have to build on it!
