McNeese @UCA

Game 3:

MSU 5-9-1 (3-0/12-4)
UCA 3-8-1 (0-3/6-11)

Pretty solid pitching with Moyer going 8...........MSU went to the bullpen early after Bears tied game at 3 in the 2nd.........Bears had plenty of chances with 8 hits and 8 BBs but left 10 on base...............Strong led the attack with 3/4 and 2 rbis with a double......Bears had 4 doubles in total but also 8 Ks..............

UALR at Bear Field on Tue at6pm then off to San Antonio for the weekend series with Incarnate Word.......need to get back on the winning track.........Go Bears!!

UALR @UCA

UALR 3-7-2 (7-10)
UCA 12-13-1 (7-11)

Bats hot early and Bears tally 5 in the 2nd then piled it on...........Brand goes 7 nice innings in the start with 3 runs, 6 hits, 2 BBs and 5 Ks........pitch count a little high at 105 but a very quality start......Tillery wraps up final 2 with a one hit shutout with 2 Ks...........Trojans used 9 pitchers.........with 198 pitches.........wow......Bears bats pounded out 13 hits to go with 7 BBs and 2 HBPs.....Hancock goes 4/4 with 3 rbis.........Haun 3/4 with 2 rbis and 3 runs scored.......Ballisterri and Strong combined for four hits and 3 rbis....

"Haun had a pair of triples, giving him six on the season,
the most in NCAA Division I. "

Let's hope the bats and pitching carry over to the trip to Incarnate Word this weekend........Go Bears!!!

The 8 game losing streak sucked, but we won't have another 8 game stretch of competition like that. We have a chance to go on a winning streak as long as we play up to our ability. UALR looked completely overmatched last night.

UCA@Incarnate Word

Game 1:

UCA 15-16-1 (1-3/7-11)
UIW 10-15-3 (11-8)

Not a pitchers duel by any means............Bears had two 7 run innings........unbelievably Bears use only 3 pitchers as Tice starts and goes 3.2, then Hargerla 4.2 and Tillery closes out........10Ks, 1 BB and 2 HBP.........Strong and Hancock combine for 8 hits, 6 runs and 4 rbis.....Presley adds a HR, 2 runs and 4 rbis.....four others with 2 hits........6 extra base hits plus Strong also had a HR.....

Bats were hot tonight as the Bears had two 7 run innings. Keaton Presley with a grand slam.

UCA@Incarnate Word

Game 2:

UCA 8-9-0 (1-4/7-12)
UIW 9-15-1 (12-8)

Back and forth game until Cards score 5 in B5 to lead 9-3........Bears tally 5 in T7 but leave tying run on in T9 to fall 9-8. Murray got the start and gave up 4 in 4 on 7 hits (however, got 5 Ks). Tillery could get one out while giving up 5 on 4 hits and a BB. Brand pitched 4 hit shutout ball on 3.2 to close. Sanchez was 1/3 with 3 rbis and Ballisterri and McCurdy each had 2 rbis on a hit each........Strong was 3/5 with a run scored.........Cards did their damage in B5 on walk, singles, doubles, sac fly,etc....Bears come back in T7 on HBP, SB, walk, single, HBP, BB, 3-run double....

Game 3 tomorrow 1pm..need to win this series...........

Seems we either get poor pitching and good hitting or poor hitting and good pitching. Need to start having more days of both to reel off some wins.

Another loss today....they need two weekday wins this week to get confidence up some. I'm sure it will be a long bus trip back for coaches and players from San Antonio.

UCA@Incarnate Word

Game 3:

UCA 3-7-0 (1-5/8-13)
IWU 5-9-3 (8-13)

Bears jump out to early 2-0 lead then give up 4 in 3rd and never got even again........Gray had a decent 7 inning start but had 4 BBs to go with 7 hits....he did have 11 Ks but 124 is a lot of pitches.......Moyer struggled to get out of 8th giving up 2 hits, 2 BBs and 1 wild pitch on 26 pitches..........Aguilar was 2/4 with a triple and rbi and Strong was 2/5 with a double and run........Ballisterri also had a rbi on one hit..............Bears 9th was walk, double play, walk, walk, error by pitcher to load bases then ground out............3 walks and error should get a run or two..............

A six game homestand coming up that we need to get some wins............SEMO on Tue, MS Valley on Wed, then UNO for the weekend series then UAPB on the following Tue........

SEMO@UCA

SEMO 4-11-2 (10-8)
UCA 5-5-0, 12 (9-13)

Bears led 4-3 from 5th then Redhawks tied in T9 on a single, ground out and single to score the tying run............pitchers took over in 10th - 12th when a HBP and three walks push Presley across for the winning run ..........Davenport started and went 3 giving up a run.........Hagerla gave up 2 in 3 IP..............Moyer gets the win in 6 IP............Hancock goes 2/4 with 2 rbis

Next up is MS Valley Wed in what could be a chilly night game..........

UNO@UCA

Game 1:

UNO 5-11-2 (3-4/13-10)
UCA 6-11-0 (2-5/11-13)

Tice went 5.2 in the start and was not treated well by the pirates from NOLA giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and 5 BBs on 132 pitches including a 3-run HR..........still he kept us in reach...............Hagerla closed with shutout ball in 3.1 allowing only 3 hits to get the win............Presley was 2/5, a bases clearing 3-run triple to tie the game in B9, 2 runs and 4 rbis.........McCurdy added a rbi, Hancock got the GWRBI and Strong went 3/4....great to get the Game 1 win.........Go Bears!!

UNO is 3-3/13-9 with a SLC sweep of ACU and losses ina sweep by SELA. Impressively they have defeated LSU twice in a home and home set (imagine.........Tigers willing to play instate team .plus one in their backyard...........and also home and home....I understand the sun rose in Baton Rouge following each loss). Privateers also dropped 2/3 to Troy, Mo State, uaf, South Alabama and Southern Miss. This will take a very good effort by Bears to win the series.

UNO@UCA

Game 2:

UNO 11-14-2 (4-4/14-10)
UCA 4-12-1 (2-6/11-14)

Privateers looked more like the team that beat LSU twice..............Bears take a 4-1 lead then it was all UNO as they tallied 9 runs in the 5th and 6th.......not many pitching highlights when pitchers give up 14 hits, 3 HRs, 2 BBs, 2 HBP and 148 pitches.........UNO's hurlers not much better giving 17 base runners and 152 pitches......Bears were just not pushing runners around the bases.......Presley was 1/4 with 2 rbis but left 4 on base......McCurdy, Strong, Hancock and Ballisterri each had two hits and zero rbis between them.......

Game 3 at 1pm on Sunday......really need to bounce back to win the series........Go Bears!!

UNO@UCA

Game 3:

UNO 0-5-0 (4-5/14-11)
UCA 10-13-1 (3-6/12-14)

This is the way to end a series.......a run-rule win in 7 with an 8 run 5th.............Moyer goes the distance for the win and only 94 pitches......Bears pushed across at least one run on each UNO's four pitchers...........Presley, Strong, Aguilar and Ballisterri each had 2 rbis......plus Strong was 3/4, a double and two runs.......

UAPB comes to town on Tuesday at 6pm then the weekend at NWS as the start of 7 road games.............

UAPB@UCA

UAPB 3-7-3
UCA 9-7-0 (13-14)

4 run 8th sealed the win.............5 Bears pitcher shared the load tonight.......7 Ks but 3 BBs and 2 balks to go with 7 hits that included a double and HR........fortunate to give up only 3 runs........Strong (double) , Aguilar and McCarty (HR) each had 2 rbis.......Bears leave 9 on base...............still a win is a win and helps...........

Off to Natch and hopefully a series win............
