What I love to see more than the double header sweep...
28 kids from Arkansas on the roster.

In looking at the schedule I see that the home game vs. OSU was dropped to reschedule the UAPB game. Is that for real?!? I completely understand the need to continue playing in state competition, but I don't get this at all. Couldn't we switch our March 28 game to Pine Bluff and drop our home game against the Lions in favor of keeping the OSU game? I wouldn't blame UAPB if they had to do that to keep a higher profile home game. Can someone help me understand? Was the original schedule incorrect and we actually did not have a home game vs a Big 12 opponent?

Good comeback win in Game 2...........Tillery went 4 IP and gave up 5 runs including 3 HRs but the pen cleaned up well as three pitched 5 giving up only one run ...TTU used 7 pitchers and gave up 2 HRs.......UCA hurlers threw 150 pitches while TTU's served up 172......Presley as lead off went 3/5 with a run and 3 rbis.........Ballisterri had a strong night with 3/4 and 2 runs and 2 rbis.........3 others had 2 each and put to good use with a rbi each.......drive safe on I40 and get ready for a good weekend in Springfield vs the Maroon Bears.......Go Purple Bears!!

Game 1:

Not a good day on the mound.................Schmidt gave up 8 run s on 10 hits and 4 BBs.............in relief Henry gave up 3 runs on 5 hits...........146 pitches in 8 innings of work......wow......Presley was 2/2 and on base 2 more times via BBs.......Aquilar has a nice day at 2/4 with 2 runs and 4 rbis plus a HR..

Missouri State is 6-1 on the season. Their only loss is to McNeese State by a score of 4-3. After today at Arkansas State they will have been on the road for their first 8 games. That makes us their first home games. :?

Go Purple Bears!

Game 1:

UCA 0-6-0 (6-4)
MSU 5-4-1 (8-1)

http://www.ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=baseball&id=2782

Well, that did not go well. Overall pretty good pitching with only 4 hits and 10Ks........except for 9 BBs..ugh. MoState pitchers struck out 14..........wow..14.

Strong was 2/3............

Fortunately this is baseball and we get to try again tomorrow at 2:05pm. Go Purple Bears!!

Game 2:

UCA 3-9-0 (6-5)
MSU 5-8-1 (9-1)

Left two on base to end the game...........good game overall........pitching decent but the 5 BBs and 3 HRs......Aguilar was 2/3 with 2 rbis...Strong 2/4 with 2 runs scored........Hancock 2/3........HRs by MSU too much to overcome.......

Game 3 tomorrow at 1:05pm.

Maroon Bears rally for 3 in 6th to take lead 5-3 now in T7th........

Bears take early 2-0 lead then hang on at 3-2 in Top of 5th..........

Was at yesterday and today's games. We failed to get key hits when needed. Twice yesterday we had runners at second and third with one out and could not score. We are up 3-2 today and get runners at second and third with no outs and could not score. Today Gray was warming up but not warm in time to face Burger and he made us pay. Tough stretch of games with this weekend, Vandy on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then Mcneese State next weekend. Hopefully they can earn a W tomorrow to salvage the weekend.

Game 3:

UCA 0-2-1 (6-6)
MSU 4-11-0 (10-1)

http://www.ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=baseball&id=2784

It would seem Mo State has some pretty good pitching and is not 10-1 by luck. Not much offense to talk about but we did have 7 base runners but just could not do anything with them. UCA pitchers gave up 2 HRs and allowed 16 base runners..........still only 2 BBs and 5 Ks..............however, 141 pitches in 8 innings while not terrible is 17+ per inning..............MSU has 122 in 9 or 13+...........

Anyway, does not get any easier at Vandy this week then the SLC opener next weekend at home vs McNeese.....

Go Bears!!

Missouri State is a good team. They have some guys that will have a good chance to play at the next level for sure. Burger is predicted first rounder and killed us Saturday and Sunday. Friday we had WAY too many strikeouts and failed to score with runners in scoring position. Saturday was better, fewer strikeouts, but still failed to score with runners in scoring position. One swing of the bat from Burger and the game was over really. Yesterday....they didn't play with a lot of energy and seemed pretty beat down. Pitching wasn't terrible considering the opponent, but we were back to being pretty much inept at the plate against their pitching. I think this is toughest stretch of games in the season with Missouri State, Vandy and then Mcneese State in an 8 game stretch. Another tough 7 game stretch later with Oklahoma State, Dallas Baptist and Sam Houston State.

Hopefully they bounce back and have a good performance at Vandy win or lose, and carry some confidence back to town for conference opening series.

@Vandy

3/8/17:

UCA 1-6-2 (6-8)
VU 9-11-0 (9-3)

7 UCA pitchers gave up 11 hits, 9 BBs and 2 HBPs.........22 base runners......not much offense as 5 Vandy pitchers struck out 16 Bears.......ugh........hope their starter was a David Price clone with pitching like that..........

3/7/17:

UCA 5-7-1 (6-7)
#25 VU 10-10-2 (8-3)

Bears led 3-1 after 4.............used 8 pitchers........we gave up 7 BBs but Vandy gave 6............both teams had 7 Ks............Hancock 2/5 with two doubles, a run and rbi.........Haun was 2/4 with 2 rbis....... VU had one HR..........

McNeese @UCA

Game 1:

MSU 6-7-4 (11-4), 11 innings
UCA 3-6-3 (6-9)

Cowboys score 3 in 1st then Bears claw back for free baseball. We walked the lead off in T11, then a single, a ground out for runners at 2B and 3B, then an intentional walk then a K then with two outs a single scoring two and a third on a throwing error. After a rough first, Tice finished 7 innings with 9 Ks. Strong and Sanchez each had an rbi on a 1/5 night.

Back at it tomorrow at 11am on Southland TV.

McNeese @UCA

Game 2:

MSU 5-15-1 (2-0/11-4)
UCA 3-6-1 (0-2/6-10)

Murray could only go 4.1 in the start and gave up 3 runs on 9 hits plus 4 BBs......Hagerla gave up another two in 1.2 on 5 hits...Tillery goes 3 to finish up and tosses 1 hit, 3 Ks shutout ball.........Strong and Aguila each had two hit game......
