SLC Standings after 3/25/18 games:
Top 8
SHS 6-0 SLU 7-2 UCA 7-2 MSU 6-3 UIW 5-4 NWS 3-3 HBU 3-3 SFA 3-3
Do not be fooled by Demons 3-3 SLC record...........they won series vs Nicholls and won only one vs TAMCC....out of SLC they have 2 wins each over Binghamton, Penn, UALR and single wins over La Tech, ULM and Nebraska and lost 7-6 to Texas A&M.....

NWS 1-6-3 (3-4/13-13) UCA 12-15-0 (8-2/16-10)
HRs by Hancock, Presley and Smith..........Strong stays hot with 4/5 and a run scored plus 3 rbis.......Somedecerf, Smith, Aguilar, Hancock and Black each collected 2 hits and a combined 6 rbis.........3 by Aguliar...........by the way, Gray goes to 3-0 as he glided through 7 innings giving up one run while tallying 10ks........Go Bears!!

Top 8: Following Easter weekend series’ Standings- Overall / Conf / Combined Rec of conference opponents played SHS 20-7 / 9-0 / 6-27 UCA 17-11 / 9-3 / 24-21 SELA 21-10 / 9-3 / 19-25 UIW 19-11 / 8-4 / 16-29 McN 10-17 / 7-5 / 25-17 HBU 11-17 / 5-4 / 15-18 NWS 14-13 / 4-5 / 15-15 Nich 9-18 / 4-5 / 16-14
Combined record is for the conference games played to this point. Obviously after the halfway point those records won’t mean much but it does shed some light.
Top 8 RPI / SOS SHS 43 / 120 UCA 105 / 106 SELA 130 / 255 NWS 136 / 181 UIW 156 / 243 McN 173 / 70 HBU 188 / 161 Nich 252 / 179
UCA’s RPI hit 186 after the OK St. game. Was 121 day of WSU and 120 after. Hit 97 after game 2 vs the Demons. Need to keep winning series on the weekends. Revenge against the Shockers would help!!

HBU @UCA
Tough home series....lose 2 of 3 to Cougars to get to 10-5/18-13...............plenty of pitching to have swept this series...........
3-5, 1-3 and 5-0.......
Game 1: Moyer gave up 2 in top of 9th..........Gray went a solid 5.1 in the start.......
Game 2: Wiley pitched complete game in the loss.......3 runs on 3 hits and only 1 BB and 8Ks.........unfortunately Cougar pitcher also had CG and held Bears to only one run.....albeit a solo HR by Tyler Smith...........
Game 3: Davenport pitched a stellar CG one hit shutout with no BBs ( did have 1 HBP) and 7 Ks.......Bears had 4 extra base hits with 2 doubles by Presley, one by Aquilar and a 3-bagger by Strong.....
Now a week off from SLC play with a trip to UAPB on Tuesday then a weekend home series vs UTM........

Top 8 as of April 5-7 Series. Things I noticed: the Bears’ conference opponents to this point have the best record of anyone in the top 8 by a wide margin. Also, 4th best SOS along with 4th best overall record, Conf record, and RPI.
Overall / Conf / Rec of Conf Opponents SHSU 23-8 / 11-1 / 14-30 SELA 24-11 / 11-4 / 29-40 UIW 21-12 / 8-4 / 20-37 UCA 18-13 / 10-5 / 37-29 McN 13-19 / 9-6 / 33-36 HBU 14-18 / 7-5 / 29-28 NWS 16-14 / 6-6 / 22-29 UNO 16-16 / 7-8 / 30-42
There is a jumble of SLC teams in that 100-150 range. Just need to keep winning. After this week, our “opportunities” to boost our RPI come for sure!! SHSU 44 / 148 TAMCC 106 / 60 SELA 123 / 249 UCA 125 / 103 HBU 138 / 143 NWS 145 / 192 UNO 149 / 170 McN 169 / 78 UIW 171 / 254 Nich 223 / 110 ACU 239 / 228 Lam 241 / 64 SFA 255 / 209

UCA@UAPB
UCA 9-8-0 (19-13) UAPB 1-3-5 (11-14)
Wow...5 errors by Lions.......Strong 2/4 with 2 rbis and Presley 2/4 with 3 runs scored.........Aquilar and McCarty each had tow rbis.......midweek pitching by committee..........one hit shutout thru 7 by winner Brand and mid reliever Bonvillain......
Home this weekend fro three vs UTM............

UTM@UCA
Bears win in walk off in 12 to extend Skyhawks losing streak to 16........and Bears win streak to 5.....now 22-13 on season.....
Game 3:
UTM 3-12-2 UCA 4-11-3
tough day on pitchers with each team using 3 and each team's crew needing 190+ pitches..cold and wind apparently not good for fielders either with a total of 5.......Davenport got the start and went a solid 5, then Brand did 2 in the middle and Moyer finished with final 5 and the win..........8Ks in all..........but 6 BB/HBPs.....UTM had nearly 20 base runners but could only get two across........Hunter was 3/5 with one run and one rbi........Somdecerf was 3/6 and 1/1..........Hancock hits walk off HR...Bears never trailed......
Off to Wichita State for Tuesday game then to Huntsville for weekend series with BearKats..........big week for RPI and SLC standings

Lose 5-3 in Game 2. Weren’t able to keep the foot on the gas pedal after scoring 3 in the first. Gotta take the series tomorrow to close the Kats lead to 2 games.
