SLU@UCA

Bears jump out in 1st to 2-0 lead then fall behind 6-2 before scoring last 5 for the win. Big win.

SLU 6-13-2 (19-9/32-19)
UCA 7-9-3 (17-8/31-18)

Hancock goes 3/4 with a rbi......Presley and Strong each get 2 hits and both had doubles.....Wiley, Brand and Williams combine for 11ks and only 3 BBs.......Lions have lots of bats but left 8 on........

Game 2 at 4pm Saturday......Go Bears!!!

Any word on Tyler Gray?? Is he injured? Didn’t start last night or today. Is he being saved for Sunday for a reason?

UCA@UAPR at Dickey Stephens

Back and forth thru 5 then fall behind 4-2 and comes up big in 8th with 4 on HRs by Somedecerf and Hancock to take the win.

UCA 6-10-1 (32-20)
UALR 4-8-0 (26-24)

Somedecerf 3/4 with 2 runs, a rbi, a double and a solo HR.........Hancock 1/4 but a game winning 2-run HR...Aquilar and Black each had two hits...........Stone goes a solid 7 to get the win..........Bear pitchers get 9 Ks but Bear batters also tallied 10 Ks......UALR used 9 pitchers............

Now off to Thibadoux for a SLC regular final series against the Colonels (11-16/23-30)..... cannot afford to take this lightly......stuck in 3rd at best but Northwestern State (16-11), McNeese State (15-12) and Houston Baptist (15-12) close behind............need to secure the 3 seed.......Go Bears!!!

UCA@Nicholls State

Not a good start to a season ending run.........Colonels score 3 in B9 for the win....Bears had 12 LOB.....NSU scores winning run with bases loaded and Bears go for double play and fail rather than get lead runner at home..........

UCA 4-12-1 (17-11/32-21)
NSU 5-6-0 (12-16/24-30)

Tyler Gray goes 7 and gives up 2 on 3 hits with 7 Ks......

Really need to win next two.................Go Bears!!

UCA @ Nicholls State

Game 2

Definitely not the way to end the regular season........Nicholls senior pitcher throws complete game, 5 hit shutout............Bears and HBU tied for 4th now...........

UCA 0-5-2 (17-12/32-22)
NSU 4-12-1 (13-16/25-30)

Not really any UCA highlights........Smith 2/4.......pitchers did well enough to win on most days........only 2 ER and 1 BB.....

Game 3 tomorrow at 1pm.............. Go Bears!!!

We are about to play our way onto the Sam Houston side of the bracket after being a pretty solid 3-seed when we rolled into Thibodaux on Thursday. Need to at least get the W today to have some confidence heading into Sugarland.

Being shutout for 24 straight innings is definitely impressive! Not a good sign headed into the postseason. Hopefully our bats wake up between now and Wednesday!

First of all let me say I really don't keep up with baseball that much. Really don't know that much about the in's and out's of the game, but what in the world happened to the Bears during the last week or so of the season and into the post season ? Getting swept at Nichols and essentially not show up at the conference tournament. Interested in hearing some feedback.

Honestly I think we peaked during our 8 game win streak from April 28 - May 11. During that stretch we had a 3 game run where we outscored our opponents 55-12. We were pitching and hitting like no other point in the season in addition to our top notch (in the SLC anyway) fielding percentage. Then following that streak we went 1-7 and were outscored 50-23. It appears that we lost all three of the advantages we had during our streak during some of those games (pitching, fielding, hitting). Not all but some. Many teams that peak early still have a slow descent to their final end of season low and show some flashes of what got them there. Sadly for our guys our descent was steep and very fast. I hate the way it ended for Coach Gum and the players, especially the seniors that had a great run but the foundation is still there and is strong. We have good youth and good returning experience. Looking forward to next season! Go BEARS!!!
